Sooo....what happens if Brandon Lloyd or Wes Welker goes down?
Who will take their place? We really have no one behind them besides Edelman and Slater

Next man up .... just like all the other roster positions that aren't manned by stud backups.

Resign Branch or Gaffney (or both).

Branch and Gaffney make a lot of sense. Don't rule out a trade with the Rams or something like that.

Edelman to the rescue. :rocker:

If Welker is out I'd rather see Edelman out there over Branch. If Lloyd is down it better be someone with an ability to get deep. That's not Branch's game and probably isn't Gaffney's either.

....generally speaking, I would guess a combination of Edelman and Fells meaning 3 TE's but Hernandez likely playing more slot.
I'm not just going to blindly say in bill we trust but what appears to be too risky to us has surely been planned for by BB. And I don't think he's done this with the anticipation of getting someone back (Jab) or picking up a cut. My 2 cents. |
re: Sooo....what happens if Brandon Lloyd or Wes Welker goes down?
Lots of people are anticipating that Branch and/or Gaffney are on the shadow roster. That may be true, but that shouldn't overshadow the fact that Edelman looked very strong in camp and was the most productive receiver in pre-season play. Critics will make excuses for Gaffney, but Edelman won the #3 job straight up.
This offense is going to feature Hernandez. A five-wide look will probably include 2 TEs, perhaps with Woodhead or Vereen out wide. And it looks like the Pats will also feature a power running game. I expect they will sign a FA FB off waivers, which Josh obviously wants. Sooo... if Lloyd goes down, Slater is our deep threat. If Welker goes down, it's Edelman in the slot doing what he did three years ago. I actually feel really good about the roster as it stands. We can spread them out, or line up in the power-I. Depth is good. It's just FB that needs a solution. |
