Patriot's HOF question - Moss
I'm not talking about Canton.
Should Randy Moss be in the Patriot's HOF? My own feeling is Canton, Yes; Foxborough, no. What say you? |

Yes he broke records and helped the team go 16-0, but he was only here for 3 seasons!

Re: Patriot's HOF question - Moss
maybe if he had not left in such a bad way. He acted the opposite of what is sought - skills diminished but still selfish. When he was traded most fans were happy. In 20 years when no one remembers how it ended and only looks at the numbers maybe.

Re: Patriot's HOF question - Moss
Nope.
Moss = Canton HOF Troy Brown = Patriots HOF I don't think numbers should have any bearing on the Patriots version of the Hall of Fame. I enjoyed Moss as a Patriot for a couple of seasons, but I don't think "Patriot" when I see him. |
Re: Patriot's HOF question - Moss
I think he was a huge part of a story that should be captured for the PHoF and belongs in the building. It's not a GOAT barn, afterall. It's a place for people to learn about our team. For a short time, he was an important part of that team.

Moss and Dillon both had a moment here. A better case can be made for each to land in Canton eventually than ever be enshrined in Foxboro. |
Re: Patriot's HOF question - Moss
Perhaps the biggest thing Moss has going for him in consideration for the Pats HoF is how high he ranks on the Pats all-time leader board in various categories (receiving yards, receptions, receiving touchdowns, total touchdowns, yards from scrimmage).
The problem for him is that it will be a long time before he has a legitimate chance; Bruschi, McGinest, Harrison, Law, Vrabel, Light and Faulk will get in first. By then others will start becoming eligible, such as Seymour, Vinatieri, Wilfork and Mankins. Considering how pass-happy the NFL has become, by the time Moss gets a legitimate shot at the Pats HoF he will likely have slid quite a bit in most if not all of those all-time team rankings. With each passing year the memories of 2007 will fade, slowly but surely. Eventually people will ask the same questions they do now of Houston Antwine, Julius Adams and Leon Gray: 'if he was so good, why isn't he in the hall already?' That may sound crazy right now, but since it's going to be at least fifteen years before he gets in there is a very good chance that is exactly what some will be saying. He may have to count on a veteran's committee choice to get in, and that happens only once every five years. |
