My 1 Round NFL Mock Draft with Trades 1.0 (Shea McClellin at #27 & trade down at #31)
Used Great Blue North Big Board
Round 1 1. Colts- Andrew Luck QB Stanford This is a given. Colts already informed Luck that they are taking him. 2. Redskins- Robert Griffin III QB Baylor This one is also a given. Not unless the Redskins surprise us. *TRADE* 3. Rams- Trent Richardson RB Alabama Rams gave #6,#39,#96 and received #210 from Vikings. Rams are really high on Richardson and Rotoworld has confirmed this. They trade up from trading down to get their guy. 4. Browns- Justin Blackmon WR Oklahoma State Browns upset that they lost the chance to get Richardson. They go to their plan B and that is to find weapons for McCoy. 5. Buccaneers- Morris Claiborne CB LSU Buccaneers take the best player available which happens to be a need because they are trying to trade Aqib Talib who has been a cancer to the Bucs. 6. Vikings- Matt Kalil OT USC They trade down, acquiring another second and fourth and still getting their guy. *TRADE* 7. Browns- Ryan Tannehill QB Texas A&M Browns traded #22,#37, and 2013 3rd. Browns had to trade up before Miami takes him. *TRADE* 8. Jets- Melvin Ingrams OLB South Carolina Jets gave #16 and #47 and received dolphins #145. Rumors are Jets will trade up for Ingram so I put that scenario into play. 9. Panthers- Fletcher Cox DT Mississippi State Panthers need a complete upgrade with their front 7. They take the best DT in the draft. 10. Bills- Michael Floyd WR Notre Dame Bills need more weapons to compete with the Patriots for the AFC East. I think that Floyd will be better than Blackmon. 11. Chiefs- David DeCastro OG Stanford They need to protect Cassel. They grab the best interior lineman in the draft. *TRADE* 12. Eagles- Mark Barron S Alabama Eagles traded #15 and #88. Eagles need a serious upgrade at safety. 13. Cardinals- Courtney Upshaw OLB Alabama Cardinals take the next best OLB on the board after the Jets traded up to take Ingram before them. 14. Cowboys- Stephon Gilmore CB South Carolina Cowboys wanted either Barron or DeCastro and both are gone. They decide to take a CB because this is a passing league. 15. Seahawks- Luke Kuechly ILB Boston College They trade down and still get their man. 16. Dolphins- Kendall Wright WR Baylor After trading Marshall, they need a #1 Receiver. 17. Bengals0 Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama Bengals have a lot of needs and start with the best CB available. 18. Chargers- Dontari Poe NT Memphis Chargers need to revamp their front 7. They start with the NT position. 19. Bears- Michael Brockers DT LSU There have been reports on Rotoworld that if Brockers fall to the Bears they will take him. WEll this is the case. *TRADE* 20. Steelers- Riley Reiff OT Iowa Steelers gave #24,#119, and 2013 4th. Steelers decide to trade up to get the best OT available. Reiff WAS projected to go in the top 15, but dropped and the Steelers took advantage. 21. Bengals- Quinton Coples DE UNC Bengals lost a lot of their depth at DE. They take the best DE available. 22. Jaguars- Nick Perry DE USC Jaguars traded down and took the best available pass rusher. 23. Lions0 Gordy Glenn OT Georgia Lions need to protect stafford. Glenn can play OT and OG. 24. Titans- Jonathan Martin OT Stanford Titans take the best available OT on the board. *TRADE* 25. Ravens- Stephen Hill WR Georgia Tech Ravens traded #29 and 2013 3rd. Ravens are looking for another weapon for flacco. They trade up to snatch Hill before the Texans take him. 26. Texans- Whitney Mercilus OLB Illinois With Hill off the board, Texans decide to draft an OLB after losing Mario Williams. 27. Patriots- Shea McClellin OLB Boise State The more i read about McClellin, the more I like him. He is very versatile and BB likes that. 28. Packers- Andre Branch OLB Clemson Packers had the worst defense in the league last season. They need all the help they can get. 29. Broncos- Jerel Worthy DT Michigan State Broncos biggest need is a DT and they find their man. 30. 49ers- Rueben Randle WR LSU Niners decide to take a WR in case Moss pulls the same stunt he does with all of his former teams. *TRADE* 31. Colts- Coby Fleener TE Stanford Colts trade #34 and 2013 3rd. Colts know that the Giants need a TE. They trade up ahead of them to get the best TE in the draft. 32. Giants- Dont'a Hightower ILB Alabama Giants fill their need with one of the best ILB in the draft. Let the bashing begin!! |

I like the Fleener trade with the Colts. But, I think Bill would likely ask for a 2012 5th or 6th as well as the 3rd.

Two thoughts.
1. Why would the Browns take Blackmon at four and then surrender their second rounder to trade up for Tannehill? Why not take Tannehill @4, take BPA at #22 and then draft one of those gaggle of second tier receivers with their second rounder? 2. A really interesting scenario is to have the Vikings taking Claiborne @3. They've got Stafford, Rodgers and Cutler as the other QB's in that division. I don't think Kalil is the given every says it is. On the other hand, they play cover-2 which tends to devalue CB's. There's will be a really interesting choice because if they do go Claiborne it throws the next few picks into a bit of chaos - especially if the Rams trade up with Cleveland for Kalil. You've got some interesting picks in there. I like that you have Reiff falling - I doubt he's drafted in the top 20. |

Excellent mock with some really realistic trades.
I can totally see the Jets going all out for Ingram, but I would hope Miami can squeeze more compensation from the Jets for the right to take Ingram. Plus I can see teams falling over themselves for Barron. With Brockers sitting there at #18, I would hope BB would go up and get him. This draft is very shallow,so if ever there was a year for BB to leverage multiple picks for a better quality player, this is the year. Given the lack of a true pass rusher in this draft DL makes the most sense. |

I think Max has a good point on your Browns trade. It would make a lot more sense to just pick Tannihill with the 4th and keep your picks. It would make even MORE sense to simply give the Pats that #37 for Mallet, who is probably a better prospect than Tannihill is right now anyway. Then if Richardson isn't there trade down and replace that pick. Lots of very good WR prospects in this draft
Hypothetically, if they traded for Mallet, and Richardson is gone, they could trade down from the #4 replace the 2nd rounder they traded to the Pats, pick up a good defensive prospect in the early teens, and then Hill at 22, and they are in a lot better shape than in your scenario. Other than that it all makes good sense, though I can see the Texans going for the WR at 26 (Hill, Randell) leaving Mercilus available. If so, who would you pick, McClellin or Mercilus? |

If we pass on Hightower to trade down to #34 and a 2013 3rd rounder, and let the Giants take him, I will- I don't know- but it will be bad, really really bad.
