Reggie Wayne on Playing in New England: 'Who Wouldn't Want to Play There?'

Reggie Wayne on Playing in New England: 'Who Wouldn't Want to Play There?'
By: Ian Logue

Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald had an interesting note in her Sunday football notes about free agent receiver Reggie Wayne, who apparently is open to the thought of playing with the Patriots....

He can help us.

I would still consider drafting an outside WR even after signing him.

I'd rather have Lloyd. But, hey, if Wayne wants to take a pay cut and contend for another ring, then he knows where to go.

I would love that, but I doubt we would get 2 big name FA WRs. If that core remained healthy, I honestly don't know how you'd defend against it.

Wayne and Lloyd combined are probably cheaper than Jackson or Bowe too.

Why does he HAVE to take a cut? How much money was left on the table this past year? The adherence to "value" seems to trump all else, even Rings! They key is how much a player is worth...to the Patriots. Given the complete inability to operate outside the numbers, I would think the value of guys like Lloyd and Wayne would be high, especially when coupled with the closing window of opportunity on the TB/BB era. This group would give them the ability to draft solely for Defense, bolstering a young group which, as it develops, will allow for a smoother transition to the next (Josh McDaniels/Ryan Mallet?) era Offense to take shape.

6000 yards, 54 passing TDs, MVP for TB

enough money left to upgrade the D though?
