The NFL SERIOUSLY needs to revamp "injury time outs"
Antrelle Rolle goes down with a phantom injury. Our momentum is stopped.
NYG Defensive coordinator gets a free time out to think about which play to call next. NYG defense gets a free time out to catch their breathe. Our offense goes cold. Welker drops a pass that he usually makes. The ball then goes to NYG for the game winning drive. It happened many times in last years playoff game against the Jets and was never addressed. It happened during the season with the NYG's being caught red handed when two players flopped at the same time. Rolle did it at a crucial point in the game. Pierre-Paul did it earlier in the game (replay showed no injury whatsoever) I'm sorry if I sound like I'm *****ing. But it ruins the integrity of the game. I dont care what team does it. The NFL really needs to change that ****. |

Re: The NFL SERIOUSLY needs to revamp "injury time outs"
The Antrell Rolle acting job was obvious.
I knew he'd be back in a couple plays later... and he was. So obvious. The Giants were even CAUGHT doing this in the regular season. It SERIOUSLY needs to be addressed as it gives teams a free time out and ruins an offense rythem. |
Giants faking injuries
Michael Strahan admits his team mate faked an injury in SuperBowl 42
Fred Robbins fakes an injury in Super Bowl 42! (Michael Strahan Commentary) - YouTube Giants caught faking injuries red handed in September 2011. Sam Bradford claims he heard Giants coaches yelling for players to "go down". Giants Players Fake Injuries To Slow Down Rams Offense - YouTube Aaron Rodgers says Giants faked injuries to slow down the Packers offense Rodgers accuses Giants of faking 'phantom' injuries Quote:
Surprise, Surprise.... Remember that Wes Welker drop in the SuperBowl? That was right after Antrel Rolle faked an injury. Rolle was on the ground for 5 minutes. It ruined our offenses momentum. It ruined the rhythm. Our offense suddenly went cold after moving the ball so easily before that. It allowed the Giants to substitute and figure out what we were doing offensively. It allowed their players to rest. Rolle then came back into the game 2 plays later and showed no ill-effects of his "injury". The replay also showed no such injury taking place. Jason Pierre-Paul also did this earlier in the game. The replay showed no injury at all. Not making excuses. But it's obvious the league needs to do something about this in the off-season. |
Re: Giants faking injuries
I thought they were faking injuries too. One Giant after another was down for the count and it was always when we were moving the ball well. Then they sat out a play and surprise, back in and good to go.

Re: Giants faking injuries
Here is the solution: Every time has one injury time out per half. After that they start to be charged time outs. If they don't have any timeouts left and a player is injured they have to stay out the rest of the game.

its time to put your big boy undies back on and get on with your day |
Re: Giants faking injuries
The most logical solution in these instances where an injury timeout is called is to have the player involved be forced to remain sidelined for the remainder of the drive.
Referees are not doctors so they cannot reasonably be expected to make a decision on whether or not a player is faking an injury. The league and the players talked quite a bit about player safety during the CBA negotiations and over the last few years; why would either side be okay with permitting a player who was so severely hurt return to the field after just one play? To me the one question remains is whether you want to apply the rule strictly to defensive players, to prevent teams from employing this tactic against offenses that are moving the ball, or apply it to both offensive and defensive players? |
Re: Giants faking injuries
250k and a 1st rounder? Come on, Roger, they were pretty disrespectful to your beloved Jest this season too :D.
