If you are having SB guests, passing out this memo is strongly encouraged

Some People Think There is a Right Way to Watch the Super Bowl « Some People Think

There's a reason why I refuse to have people over for the Super Bowl unless they like the Pats as much as I do. If you, however, are not in a position to enforce such a position, then I suggest that you at least inform your guests of these rules. It will make the viewing experience at least somewhat bearable; at the very least, not the hell that casual fans who don't really care about the game usually make it.

No need for that in my house. It's just me and two friends that are just as passionate as I am. I don't invite anybody else over.

It's just me and my wide screen TV and home theater system for this game. I have NO desire to share this with anyone else. No one else in my family cares about football anyway, so it's all good. :)

A long read, but a pretty damned funny one!! :D

A few dubious elements,though:

1 ~ Feltcher is NOT "The man."

2 ~ Feltcher is not even a MAN. He is a TROLL.

3 ~ The MULTIPLE references to Tom Brady's "beauty" made me CRINGE with disgust.

No chance I show up at THAT guy's apartment.

***

I've had a few Rage Incidents with some AMAZINGLY stupid clowns over the years who simply did NOT belong in that HOUSE, much less that room...but I always manage to make it FAR more unpleasant for THEM.

I had people over for the 49ers game. One guy, John, (a co-workers husband) is a Giants fan. He was cool and kept himself under control. Not that I cared, I just watched to see who the Pats would play.

The next day @ work my friend says "John is SO looking forward to watching the Superbowl at your house!" I flat out told her, "He can't come to my house and watch the Superbowl. Because he'll cheer for them and then I will hate him for the rest of my life."

I know, real mature right?

I have really strong feelings about it though. There is no way in the world I would have an opposing team fan in my house, drinking my beer, eating my food, watching my TV, and taunting me during the game. Just thinking about it makes me p1ssed off.

Makes total sense to me. I made the mistake of (grudgingly) allowing a few friends to watch SB 42 at my place. Long story short, I had just moved to California that same year, and my roommate (a native Californian) his girlfriend (her dad was a Giants fan, so she decided that she was too), and another friend (a Bears fan) all watched the game with me. As time wore on, they all decided that they were rooting for "a close game".

By the end of the day, I had ended my friendship with the Bears fan (I haven't spoken to him since) and essentially told the girlfriend that she would have to shut up if she wanted to be allowed to live in my apartment anymore.

Not my best day. Ever since then, I watch playoff games, as a rule, at home with my buddy Stephen (one of the other thirds of PatsCast, fwiw). No non-pats fans allowed ever again.

More than anything, what gets me is the talking. People who aren't as invested in the game as I am talk during crucial parts of the game. They talk about dumb ****, ask stupid questions, they aren't even all that interested in the game, and then they look at me like I'm the weirdo when I start yelling at the TV. No thanks, I will not be judged for being irrationally invested in this team.

i live in an apartment w/ 3 other guys, one a giants fan

all three of them will prob be rooting for the giants

they know how i am, its going to be load, whether its cheers of joy, or yells of frustration

other friends are invited and WILL come, mostly nuetral, the rule is simple:

you are allowed to leave at ANY point, but the two guys who have their teams in the game can and will do whatever they like

if you don't, you are allowed to go

I have a buddy living with me for a while, as he's dealing with a divorce and a move. He is a Giants fan. I thought I'd be going to the game, but it's looking unlikely now.

Not sure how Sunday is going to work out... I'm going to try to pretend I'm there and sitting next to a Giants fan.

I remember a few years ago a buddy of mine who is a Tampa fan said that he and his wife were going over to his wife's friends house to watch the game back when the Bus won it (2002, I think it was). I told him that if you are watching YOUR team, the last place you want to be is at someone else's house. The next Monday, he came to work and told me I was right and that half the time he couldn't see or hear the game, and nobody cared about the outcome.

This is why I get rid of everyone, except diehard Pats fans.
