OT: Terrell Owens gets all that money then misses mandatory mini-camp

Quote:

IRVING, Texas (AP) - Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens wasn't on the field for the start of the team's mandatory offseason minicamp.

Team officials say Owens missed the first of two workouts Tuesday for personal reasons. It wasn't clear what those were or if he would be on the field for any part of the three-day minicamp.

The flamboyant receiver participated in optional workouts the past four weeks. Heading into the final year of his contract, he recently signed a three-year extension worth around $27 million.

What a good way to show that you earned all that money.

Just another example of the iron fist Wade Phillips wields. Is there any other coach you see more fit to handle the egos in the Cowboys lockerroom than Phillips. If things go bad, he will just whip the team in shape while pansies like Belichick or Parcells would just cower in the fetal position in the corner.

I still think this could be the very year that the Cowboys implode on themselves.

Owens owns that team. They're in for a big blow up this year with the added personalities and contract issues they're having.

Not to mention their head coach will be too busy looking over his shoulder all year long at Jason Garrett.

What contract issues? Ken Hamlin is the only training camp holdout and it's because he's been franchised. The team and Hamlin are aggressively working to get a deal done.

There are rumors going around that Owens' absence has something to do with the health of his eight year old boy. Odds are this is a non-story and if the rumors are true I hope it is, but since it is T.O.-related you know speculation will run rampant. I would think that after Spygate that Patriots fans would be the first ones to avoid another rush to judgment.

I used to avoid rushes to judgement but, during Spygate, 85% of fans from other teams never extended my team that same courtesy. Since then, I've been a lot "freer" to judge other teams in the initial story. That and I just don't like T.O., lol. Don't mind the Cowboys, but hate T.O.

Exactly.

For everyone else: T.O. has been an asshat in the past, but how does an excused absence from June minicamps for personal matters make him a turd now?

Couldnt agree with you more...no one ever cared about our team during the whole Spygate fiasco....

Who/what/where said it was an excused absence? That is nowhere in the article that I posted and I haven't seen it anywhere else yet.

I got it from Rotoworld, which got it from The Dallas Morning News.
