If Kaczur is cut, the Toronto Argonauts are ready to pounce
Toronto drafted Nick in the 2005 CFL Draft until Nick decided to play for the REAL football league.
With the likely suspension that Kaczur may face at the hands of the beloved Goodell,I think its good bye time for Nick as a Patriot if in fact all reported accusations are true. With that in mind it looks like Nick may be heading on up to Toronto to join his old buddy Bethel Johnson if the Pats decide to release him and with NE's FA pickup of Ross,it seems to me its probably a good possibility hes gone in the near future or at least until Goodell unleashes his wrath. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/C...786891-cp.html |

Might happen. Since Kaczur's not a US citizen, he may have the US Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) to deal with in the wake of all of this.

Might want to do a little research, Dan, in the "wake of all this...".. We don't deport 'em for misdemeanors...let alone cooperating with the criminal justice system.
Goodell also can't arbitrarily discipline him unless he did something that was deemed highly detrimental to the image of the league. Players are protected under the league's substance abuse program. If he starts suspending guys for a first time drug offense other than for banned performance enhancing drugs, we'd likely be looking at canceling the NFL season. |

"If Kaczur is cut, the Toronto Argonauts are ready to pounce" has to be the stupidest article title I've read in a long time. The title makes it sound as if this is something highly likely or about to happen. Since no one cares about the Toronto Argonauts except the Argonauts the entire articles deserves a Big Giant.. "AND?" I don't know how Kaczur ranks talent-wise among the Patriots O-linemen, but if Belichik values his skills, I really hope Nick stays. Personally, I have no reason to want him to leave. So, here's to Nick staying;) |

If Kaczur was about to suspended or kicked out of the league, I think we'd be hearing something about it by now. Although, we wouldn't know if Kaczur was already in the substance abuse program, I don't think that's the case. If that is the case, there's no suspension, he just enters the program. The thought that I see some speculating about now, that he was dealing, would have to be proven, if the guy that supplied him knew anything about that, it would be public by now. Also, Kaczur could be viewed as a victim, he's an outed informer. I have no idea who his supplier is or if there are people working with him, but if something happened to Kaczur, the fallout will effect the DA, DEA and his supplier's attorney and Kaczur's family would be very rich. I'll be interesting to see what his dealer offers ( thus far seems weak ) and how the league and the Patriots react. |

Just to throw in the opinion of a former addict, if I had the money the Kaczur has and I was into oxycontin, I would buy a nice big stash of my own. Even if I only used say 2 per day or even if I just used them for a buzz on weekends. Remember, he only paid something like $2,000 for the 100 pills. Two grand to Nick is like $100 bucks to the average guy. O-linemen are typically among the most intellegent players on a football team. So I'll assume Nick is a pretty smart guy. It would be HIGHLY unlikely he made his purchase to distribute them and put his career in that much jeopardy. But in my own dark old days as a user, if I came into some money, I would buy a lot so i could sell some and get my own for free. This is definately not the case for Kaczur. He does not "need" to sell anything to keep his costs down. Also, keep in mind that if I have 100 pills of an illegal substance and I give it away, I don't think I'm legally a distributor because I wouldn't be "pushing" (selling) anything, I would be offering it. In every "sting" operation, the seller can't be arrested as a distributor until he gives his price or money is shown. Jut like a person can't be arrested for prostitution until they ask for money. |

Distribution does not require an exchange of money. Just like you can go to jail for supplying a minor with booze even if you give it to him for free. I agree it is highly unlikely he was selling drugs. It is possible he was sharing them with others in which case the most likely others would be teammates. |

I guess we'll have to cut Wiggins also. Oh wait, he hasn't played with us since 2001.

I seriously doubt Kaczur will be cut. Besides, if he was cut, he wouldn't go to Toronto, Jerry Jones would sign him to play for the Cowboys.

JEEZUS, he was arrested IN APRIL in NY for speeding and he was found to have a small amount of unprescribed pain meds in his possession. One is a moving violation, the other a MISDEMEANOR. HE may not even have to testify against his supplier - the cops have them on a wire... and he will probably roll on his supplier to get a plea bargain deal. It doesn't matter what he says - Nick isn't the one on trial because he admitted using and illegally purchasing the pills - he is. This isn't nuclear physics folks, and it isn't some riveting crime drama either. Is it a little glimpse at the seedy underbelly of the NFL? Duh...welcome to reality. I think we could do a lot better at RT. I wanted BB to draft one in the first. That said, Kaczur is not getting suspended for this any more than Alexander or Faulk did. And he won't get cut unless Bill believes he's become the 5th or 6th best tackle on the roster. Remember too, Goodell struggled with suspending Vick even after he was indicted on multiple felony counts because it was technically his first offense. And yet when Rodney was caught as collateral damage in a steriod sting, the hammer came down in like 72 hours - because it was hgh and he admitted purchasing and using it. This guy certainly sold to others besides Kaczur. Maybe he sold to another member of the team. But we won't know that unless he names them, and even then that won't help him because the DA isn't interested in who got the pills, he wants to know where they came from. He's not interested in misdemeanor offenders - he's looking for felony dealers he can convict. Really, the media is right about people lapping up and subconsciously wanting sordid speculation and tabloid trash fed to them. I know it's the dog days of June for NFL fans, but this is ridiculous. I swear it's like some here have to have a player or two on teir team they can hate on...must be one of those things that convinces them they are objective... |
