Seau and Law

It would seem that Seau and Law would be significant upgrades over Alexander and Webster, who I would have the replacing on the "current" roster.

Another position that we might be looking to upgrade is the #5 RB/FB, where Eckel is the incumbant. We at least need some competition for Eckel.

It seems that Slater, Aiken and Washington could be fighting for one ST spot, although we could keep more than one of the three.

Forget Law. Why wouldn't he have signed yet? He wants the money they're not going to give him. I'd love to have him but it's just not happening.

EDIT--On second thought, seeing how no one else is paying him maybe the Pats will be able to work something out, they should have like 5 mil in cap space left then.

Law is too slow and not quick enough to play for us. It's been long overdue that we get younger and faster, and Law makes us older and slower.

I think that they will sign Law, and fairly soon. Seau is another story. The one thing that may bring him back is his deep rooted desire for a Super Bowl ring.

However, in his case, he may believe that his best bet for that would be with the Chargers, and not the Pats, and his home and family are in San Diego.

His experience at the corner position is very valuable and the Pats are very short at the corner. (no pun intended) I think he can help the team, even if it's only for one season, maybe two.

If I remember correctly, the last time this team played like champions was when the 9 million dollar corner was on crutches and a scab UDFA covered the game's best receiver in a superbowl victory. And Law isn't any faster than he was back then before he got injured..

If Law takes the vet minimum, I would welcome him. Anything more would be wisely spent of on a RG in case Neal never makes it back to form.

(side note: Did Law get hurt in Pittsburgh? Did Dillon go down bad in Pittsburgh a year later? Brady missed the 2nd half of the 02 AFCCG at Heinz too. That field is haunted. Plus the 21 game streak ended there).

This is hardly intended as a slight against Randall Gay, but the key word here should be he "tried" to cover the game's best receiver in a SB victory. If you recall, Owens had a hell of a game tossing Gay around like a sack of rice while sporting a bad leg to boot. But again, this isn't meant to disparage Gay because other than this mismatch, he had one hell of a rookie season. Ty though made some plays for the Pats that year prior to his injury, and that really shouldn't be disregarded.

I actually don't recall Dillon getting injured at Heinz. If I recall, I think he was already nicked up and hardly played, if at all, in that infamous Halloween game. Actually, the entire team was decimated by injuries, the RB corp more so than any other, which is why we even saw a rookie Patrick Cobbs carry the rock in the second half. Cory at Heinz in the playoffs caused more pain to the Steelers than was inflicted on him though the stats don't reflect this. He ran like a pissed off mad-man.

Lastly, don't forget Rodney blowing out his knee the following season at Heinz.
