What would it take for you to switch team alliances?
I expect that when the 49ers and the Patriots play this year Thomas Brady Sr. will be rooting for New England, and not the his home team 49ers that he use to take young Tommy to so they could root for the 49ers and the the great Joe Montana.
However, I am sure that some of Tom's high school friends will be rooting for the team that they have been rooting for since childhood friendship be damned. I am sure anyone of us would don an outfit of aqua and orange or wear a horseshoe logo if our own son was drafted by a rival team. But would you do it for a brother? a cousin? a friend? classmate? a brother-in-law? Is anybody here a Pats fan because of a relationship that didn't start out a Pats fan? |

My gf asked me the other day if Id give up watching the patritos for her. I had to tell her no, I said I can give up alot of things, but nothing comes between me and this team. Sorry bro, babe, dad, cousin or friend, when it comes to sunday, its us against them, monday morning we'll go back to lovin each other (or tuesday if its a monday night game)

Re: What would it take for you to switch team alliances?
I was a Browns fan (grew up in Cleveland) before they moved. Pats were my second team back then as my wife was a Pats fan. So it was an easy move for me as my team was gone.
I have no expectation to ever find another team but if your team was sold to an owner who was a dumbass I see nothing wrong with finding a team more worthy of rooting for. Why root for crap ? Anyway, the Patriots fans won't be in this situation with Jonathon there for when Robert can no longer run the team. |
Re: What would it take for you to switch team alliances?
I grew up outside Boston but moved to Philly nearly 25 years ago... When the locals ask if I'm an Eagles fan, my response is the same. I ask them that if they moved to Dallas or NYC would they become a cowboy or Giant fan? They look at me with a pained look and reply "of course not" Then they understand why I'm a Pats fan.
My kids have become Boston sports fans because.......it's Philly, need I say more? Put another way, today is the 25th anniversary of the last Philly championship............. |

More a long the lines of lets say your nephew was drafted by Jets, or your daughter's boyfriend was signed with the Colts, or your son's best friend was the starting QB for the Bills. |

The word you're looking for is allegiance.

Re: What would it take for you to switch team alliances?
It'll never happen. Even if they moved and changed names i would still follow the team since i don't live on the East Coast anyways.
If Tom Brady finished his career on another team, that would be my 2nd favorite team... unless it was the Jets or Colts. or Bears or Dolphins or Broncos or Chargers or Steelers or Titans |
Re: What would it take for you to switch team alliances?
If my Pats plays against my relative team, I still root for Pats.
if my relative team plays against somebody else, i will root for my relative team. |
