Sen. Comcast might not be trying to shakedown Godell
Most folks on this board assume Specter is threating to hold hearings, etc. In effort to get Godell to cave-in to Comcasts demands. There is a flaw in that thinking. Godell isn't that powerful. As a commissioner he couldn't cave-in with out the consent of the owners on the TV committee.
Kraft is is on that committee. This might not be a shakedown of Godell but of Kraft. |
Re: Sen Comcast might not be trying to shakedown Godell
Maybe it is BOTH....Not sure it really matters whether its the NFL or Kraft...he's also be waving the anti-trust exemption around..which is against Goodell and the league..

I think you can put the fork in Spector cause he's done. If he was the chairman it would have a a different story. You are IMO 100% correct about Spector going after Kraft. Goodell is a nobody who has a shared political history in his family with Spector.

Re: Sen. Comcast might not be trying to shakedown Godell
Specter is trying to con Goodell into hiring a special investigator.
I expect things to quiet down because of the government's summer recess, the upcomming election, and treatment for Specter's illness. Hopefully, the situation will start to die out when Walsh returns to Hawaii and the NFL gears up in two months. The Patriots will still get lots of boos and will be considered cheaters unless they can sustain their winning ways. |

Sen. Sphincter was definitely doing this to go after Kraft. Maybe not so much a shakedown as much as like a kid in playground if you get in a fight with someone you make fun of his mother just for the sake of it. |
Re: Sen. Comcast might not be trying to shakedown Godell
It will be interesting to see how this whole thing plays out in future negotiations with ESPN and Comcast. Kraft has a long memory and should stick it to both.
