Re: Oregon officials quit over ethics rules
I'm sure that Congress has exempted themsleves from this, but every single Federal Employee has to disclose this information first during their initial background investigation, and then again every subsequent 5 years. I've always said that Congress should have to pass the same background investigations that us Federal employees do.
background checks of Federal Employees are mostly conducted by the Office of Personel Management and the questions include
names, dob, pob of mother, father, siblings, spouse, in-laws, and any other adult living in your home that you have a "spouse-like" relationship with. You must also disclose any family member who is also an employee of the federal government.
all past employment, arrests, drug use, fianancial difficulties, and must let them review your credit report.
In addition, all federal jobs require inital drug testing and then random testing forever, plus law enforcement jobs require that the applicant pass a polygraph, and take another one if asked anytime during his/her employment.
Imagine if Congress had to live by these rules?
