Mail from PFW - They are convinced that...

.... the first round draft made by the Patriots will be a linebacker.

I recieved an email from a certain Mr Perillo today, and he said the following:

"... the more that we are assessing the Patriots, and the feedback that we are getting from the get-together is that the current coaching staff have already earmarked their first priorities. From what I gather, Bryant and Merriweather are competing for a starting place alongside last years starter. In addition to this, we have to look at the recent additions made by our coaching staff. It stands to reason that we are pretty well equipped in this department in relation to others.

I feel that the draft at Corner Back is deeper than last year and we could well look at picking up an upgrade for our secondary in the second or third round. If I had to choose where we are drafting, it'd be at either inside or outside linebacker. Adding depth to our Offensive Line and a Tight End may be a priority, but I can't see us drafting with our first pick here. But then again in our mock draft, I didnt get any of our picks last year and I don't see anything changing this year."

More talk of Meriweather at CB doesn't excite me. And none of the ILB excite me for our #1 pick either.

The PFW guys really don't have any more insight than anyone else. I remember them being on WEEI about 20 minutes before the Pats picked Mankins saying the one thing they were sure of is BB did not value interior lineman enough to ever draft one on round 1.

The guy can't even spell Meriweather right.

How about a post title that describes the content instead of a time wasting tease?

Here are a few reasons why BB won't draft a linebacker day 1

If we dont draft not one but a couple of good young fast LB's or aquire a T.Spikes next year our defense will flat out be slower and get worse then last year especially with the loss of Asante, anybody who thinks different doesnt know what the hell he or she is talkin about.

Respect your opinion, but people have said that for the last few years... what is wrong with getting the likes of Avril, Bell, or Wheeler on Day 2?
