Anyone interested in doing some scouting?
Hi all,
With college games getting closer and closer I was trying to think of a way that we could all utilize each other to do some scouting for next years draft. I plan on DVRing as many games as possible, but being in the midwest I am limited to the games I get and the amount of DVR space my wife will allow me to use up. I though it would be a fun idea if each of us picked a game or 2 or people could request games/players that they would like to scout and then give weekly reviews of those players games. For me, I probably would come on here on thursday or something and list out what games I can get and then I would ask you guys which players and games you would like me to watch and I would do those particular games. Is anyone else interested in doing something like this? |

But I don't know of any way to get ahold of any "Coach's Tape" or "All 22 Tape" if that's what it's called...And any analysis based on what we can see on TeleVision is, frankly, about as reliable as that of those clowns at FootBall Focus. If you or anyone has any insight as to how to get ahold of this elusive Tape, I would be VERY gratefull to know it... |

I could do Arkansas and whoever they are playing that week lol :P
Im no pro or anything but i could try to give a decent detailed review |
Re: Anyone interested in doing some scouting?
This is always a lot of fun. I try to watch as many college games as possible during the year, and while television isn't the best for football scouting, it's more than adequate for my purposes.
You see, I know less about football than I would like. I am a movement artist, however, and I understand bio-mechanics pretty well. Instead of breaking down scheme, then, I do my best to analyze the quality of a player's coordination and body control, explosion, and overall athleticism. If I then see the requisite attention to detail (playing within the scheme, etc), along with the right size and mindset, then I flag the player as a Patriots type prospect. I'm quite comfortable choosing players that will do well at the next level, whether with the Patriots or with someone else. The one year I did fantasy football, I chose an all-rookie team. My friends laughed at me, but I ended up with a winning season. :D My way certainly isn't foolproof, but it does bring a completely different perspective to the table. It's just one resource, and I hope some of you find it useful. |

Unfortunately, no I do not know how to get a hold of "22 tape" except maybe for the Iowa State Cyclones, and even that will be hit or miss depending on what my friend on the staff can get. I was just going to use old fashion TV. |

Re: Anyone interested in doing some scouting?

This is going to be awesome!
I figure I will put up what games I can get that week on thursday and let people pick which 2 or 3 games or players they would like me to watch. That way it helps me get to know some of these guys that I might not have on my radar. |
