Impact of Haynesworth & Wilfork in the middle of defensive line

Schlereth at ESPN, of course Wingo thinks Mayo would be the Mike in a 4-3 line up. But sounds like B Spikes will be licking his chops.

Comment about S Adams and Siragusa in middle of Ravens line (He played against them in the playoffs) and how it impacted D Lewis.

VE= VW= Vince Wilfork?

D. Lewis = R. Lewis = Ray Lewis?

Schlereth said: "When we played the Ravens, we broke down four of their games. In those four games, Ray Lewis was blocked on run plays six times. There's a guy assigned to block him on every run play."

If that kind of thing can happen for the Pats, I pity opposing offenses. Imagine if Big Vince and AH each take up two blockers every play? That leaves the third DL in a one-on-one situation. The offense will need to assign a TE/RB to block any additional rushers. What if BB can, oh I don't know, confuse the offense a bit? Like getting that TE/RB to block to the incorrect side of the formation? :rocker:

Re: Imoact of AH & VE in the middle

If Spikes can become a consistent thumper in the middle, and AH/VW are tying up a combined 4 OL, opposing backs are just going to get worn down trying to run up the middle. Combine that with speedy LB's in Mayo and Guyton playing outside, along with good tackling corners in Bodden and McCourty, and oh yeah, Chung, the outside won't look too appealing either. BB has quietly built a VERY solid base run defense, 1 through 11... again, assuming everything works out as we hope.

Sam Adams and Tony Siragusa played DT for the Ravens when they had their great teams. Ray Lewis was the MLB on that team; apologies for the lousy typing.
