No tag on Moss

The deadline for placing franchise tags on players has passed, and the Patriots have not tagged WR Randy Moss.

That could mean that the sides have agreed to a multi-year contract. Yet a multi-year contract can not be announced until the 2008 league year begins Feb. 29, because players can not extend/restructure more than once in a league year. Moss had restructured his deal in April to consummate his trade to New England.

The Patriots did not place the franchise tag on any player.

honestly i think they have an agreement worked out, i didnt think they were going to slap the tag on him, if they did i think it would be worse.

I agree.... I've been saying this since the original deal was signed.

I'll be nervous if nothing gets reported by 5 March about a contract extention. As for now, I assume everything is cool.

I can see your point, and I hope this is the case.

reiss says they can't announce a new deal until the new league year Feb 29th even if they have one in place....ie the "gentlemans agreement", so I'm not too worried.

Yup...I think it is great news that he is not tagged - had they tagged him, then no deal would be in place and it would be antibody's guess as to what would happen.

I think a nice 3 year deal is signed, sealed and ready to be delivered as soon as it is legal to announce!! :rocker:
