Wait...what was Colvin's injury? His foot?

Unless I missed something, I feel like we never got a definitive answer on this. I've looked through Reiss' Pieces archives and Reiss says it was the foot, but I thought there was some confusion on the issue, and even then - does anyone know what the specific injury was? Will it have any impact on him early in 08?

i thought it was his foot. you'll never find out the specifics.

I am guessing it is similar to Freeney?

True. Same for Stephen Neal...we'll have to wait and see

It was his foot. After the game (maybe the next day on the radio) someone mentioned his shoulder to Belichick who was fine with saying something like "you heard it was his shoulder ? Fine, let's go with that" or something along those lines.

What is it ? Who knows. It would be as bad as MrBigglesWorth says, a lis franc tear. Or as "minor" as a broken bone that they didn't think would be healed enough to come back in 2007.

No I think it was the opposite. I think Belichick said something like, "We announced it as a foot? Let's leave it at that."

OK, thanks for the input all. It would be a major concern if Colvin's injury had any effect on 08...

As we can save $5.5M by releasing him, if there's anything above a minor concern for '08, we can just move on and get the cap savings. I'm hoping for a 100% Colvin but with only a year left we aren't stuck with him if his injury is an issue heading into next year.

That's a good point & that's very true, but I also agree I'd rather have Colvin at 100% as it's just one more problem to address if we have to cut him. Much like his injury did during the regular season, releasing him would cause a ripple effect, in this case on our offseason moves. We'd probably have to address OLB with that #7 pick then, hopefully Gholston, but that would prevent us from trading down and filling needs at CB or OL...

Let's hope it wasn't a lisfranc injury. If that's the case, I think the Pats might be best off just releasing him and hoping Gholston falls to #7.
