Been beaten to the ground...but why?
Please, Please, Please explain to me why a majority of the media and analysts are all picking or leaning to the Giants. Just on NFL network, Adam Schefter, "a lot of people think the Giants can do it"..Solomon Wilcots, "the Giants are quietly confident"...blah, blah, blah.
Look, I know this is the media and they need to keep people interested. But give me a break. Simply stating that the Giants played with the Patriots in week 17, lost by only 3 points, Giants have won three on the road, Eli is all of a sudden all world is not reason to think the Giants can or will win. Did they watch the week 17 game? We put up 38 points on them, in the cold, on the road. Anyone remember the Patriot and Ram Super Bowl? NOBODY gave us a chance! Some were saying we would lose by 70. How is this different? We played the Rams earlier in the season, played them tough and only lost by 7. The pundits claim the Giants can win because they "almost" beat us. Well, we ALMOST beat the Rams...yet nobody gave said we were "confident" or would win... Look. It is still Eli Manning. We were missing the right side of our line and still kept Tom Brady pretty clean.Maroney is now running effectively. The weather will not be a factor. The Giants beat: a weak Tampa team, a poorly coached Dallas team (which had every chance to win...sound familiar?), and a vastly overrated Green Bay team...erratic Brett Favre anyone? The Patriots beat the best rushing team in the NFL, Jacksonville, the "most talented team" in the NFL who just beat "the other best team in the NFL" and NOW the Giants are going to shock the world. All I am saying is back the freaking "guess/prediction" up with FACTS...please! It is getting truly annoying. |
Re: Been beaten to the ground...but why?
What do you want them to do, say don't bother tuning in? And why do you care so much about pre game spin... Maybe what we did taught them to never say never. Maybe they hate to see this team go undefeated. Maybe they are just closet Giants fans.
I wish we could talk about and enjoy this team and this game and football here and quit whining about the media or taking polls or rehashing spygate or behaving like smack talking trolls. You know, act like we've been there before... That we can't here anymore is what I find truly annoying. |

I don't think many people are seriously taking the Giants, but you know everyone roots for the underdog unless they have an interest otherwise. So, it is OK. Relax and enjoy the game. If we lose, well, we lose. I don't see it but it could happen. But, not likely. |
Re: Been beaten to the ground...but why?
The people love an underdog, and the media oves an upset.
While the Patriots becoming the first team to go 19-0 in history is the bigger story for the NFL, the media has little else to be gained from its happening. A Giants upset is a bigger immediate story. The ratings would be huge, people would tune in to ESPN in droves to catch the highlights/recap. A Patriots win won't have such immediate media impact. It's expected. When it happens, people will turn off the TV, go to bed, and that will be that. |

I agree, it's annoying. Just let the idiots be idiots.

Don't let it get to you, lesz.
Think of it as a heaven-sent opportunity for an 18-0 team to STILL play the disrespect card that works so well for the Patriots. (Would you prefer the media was pimping us like the old Rams?) |
