Cancer Victim Says Good-Bye in His Blog

Many of you have probably already seen it, but I read about this earlier today and thought I'd share it here:

The last post - Penmachine - Derek K. Miller

I was certainly moved reading quite a bit of it, and hope that I never have to read anything like it from anyone here. Very sad, and I'm sure there's a few of you here (myself included) that have had to deal with a loved one being a victim to cancer.

I guess if nothing else it's definitely a good thing for his family, who can at least click on and read past thoughts from him, which span almost a decade. That's the one positive is that they have more than just photos and memories, they have somewhat of a "voice" to read as well.

Here's a link to his wife's blog, which is equally as sad:

Talking To Air

What makes it all even much sadder is they're atheists. That wrecked some of the poignancy for me.

That made it more poignant IMO.

For me it made it more tragic. They had (have) a completely worldly perspective. No wonder the wife feels totally lost now. I feel sorry for their kids, who no doubt lack any concept of spirituality. Sad stuff that's unnecessarily sadder.

That is so sad :(

It's a beautiful way to say good bye!

That's a nice gift to leave behind for his family.
