Did I just hear on NFL that we Only have 5 picks next year?

If this is true, BB will surely be trading back.
Hope I heard wrong.

Yup: 7 rounds, five picks.

And Kraft has already indicated that we will be trading for more picks, although some posting here think that this is a huge mistake.

We don't have a 6th or 7th next year. Big whoop! :rolleyes:

IIRC we went into the 2009 draft with zero 3rd round picks. We ended up with two 3rds that year and additional picks for 2010.

Plus, we commonly get awarded 6th or 7th round comp picks.

This is exactly correct. pats have picks 1-5, but no 6 or 7. Who cares? They have a boatload this year. I know they will like trade for another 2012, but some day they should cash in on the picks!!

I vote mistake. The players just won. The lockout lifted. The Draft is illegal according to the former NFLPA leadership. All of the "tradeintooblivion" posters should have heavy hearts. Before 2010, our Drafts were mediocre. Why does everyone forget that? This stock piling picks and passing on talent was with limited success. I like BB and am amused by his trades, but they are not any healthier in added talent by all those extra moves unless there is an end. Cash out this Draft Bill. Don't be stupid!

If there is a Draft, it will no longer be as it was.

I think we lost a sixth or seventh picks in 2012 by the way. Big woop!
If he wants added picks if there is a Draft you have Mankiins, Merriweather, Sanders, Kaczur and a few others as bait for 2012 picks.

This team has gotten younger over the past 3 years and that young talent has proven well on the field...successful drafts in consecutive years tends to lower the importance of the number of drafts picks the following year.


...if the Pats hit the target on some top talent this draft like they have in 09 or 10 then 5 picks will be fine next year


That being said,I could see a trade of our 4th and 6th picks this week to a team for a 3rd or 4th next year.

I don't see any more than 6 picks in 2012 unless BB goes crazy in the draft...don't see that happening,it's time to fill holes on a defense that was embarrassing for a Belichick defense in terms of rankings all last season.

We can't always expect the offense to bail the defense out when the defense is struggling,lack of a pass rush and erratic play in the playoffs,ended our seasons early the past few years

...use our picks this year wisely and we will be set well for the future.
