I don't think the Steelers would be any better with the addition of Matt Jones.

If he was smart he'd ask for a right tackle.

If he were smart he'd ask for a secondary.
He is right though - The Steelers receivers are average at best. save for maybe Heath Miller.

Hines is still the man. Santonio is up and coming. Nate Washington is average but paid the league minimum. Ben could use another big target.

He doesn't have to ask. The entire town and local media is beating that drum hard enough.

why didn't they keep Plax...he was tall and seemed to hook up with Ben quite often.

They should try to get a center from the non-turnstile category while they're at it.

I honestly felt this year that with a decent OL, the Steelers were a top-3 team, all the other pieces were in place.

O Line was the clear weakness from game 1.

Ben wanted to keep Plax. At the time, both Plax and Hines were up for contract extensions. The team could only afford to keep one of the two. Hines was a fan favorite and much mmore of a team guy. Plaxico used to routinely show up late for everything and had some sketchy issues off the field. The coaches didn't liek his attitude, so they decided Hines was the guy they would spend money on and let Plax go. They didn't even make Plax an offer when he was up. Plus they got a 3rd compensatory pick for losing him. Hines is a much better influence on our young receivers now.
