Tea Party step up to the Plate on Budget

Tea party pushing pubbie establishment to start the path to entitlement reform. Pollsters told them it will hurt them politically, but looks like they are going to try to do the right thing on the budget

Republicans Take On the Budget - Article - National Review Online

The fast-moving decision is yet another sign of how fundamentally the GOP freshmen have changed the calculus on Capitol Hill. House aides tell NRO that after an internal flare-up with freshmen Republicans over spending levels for the remainder of this fiscal year — where the leadership ultimately sided with the freshmen to push to cut $100 billion — GOP leaders wanted to get ahead of President Obama on the budget issue.
The intention to push on entitlements is also a vindication of the vision of Paul Ryan, the once-embattled voice in the wilderness whose determination to reform entitlements has now been embraced fully by his leadership and his fellow House Republicans. Sources say Ryan was “thrilled” when he heard about Cantor’s remarks.

It's about time ...:americaflag:
they will get bad press for it ... but most Americans will applaud it as they should.

Yeah - too bad they're $39 billion short.

Maybe they think no one will notice.

We are half way through the budget year that stated in Oct before the Tea PArty freshmen were sworn in of course and it is cuts as opposed to the gluttonous spending orgy that the dems were on ( and Obama is proposing for next fiscal year. and Barry is missing in action on any mention of entitlement reform.

The Tea Party freshmen and a few fiscal conservatives are trying to drag the pubbies along, I give them credit for doing what they said they would do. First political courage I have seen in DC for many years, we just need more Tea Party congresspersons.

excellent -- I hope they stick to it, even if I don't agree with the proposed cuts (I haven't read about it yet)

I am sure the MSM will kill them and they will be hurt politically better to try and do the right thing than allow the insolvency to kill the economy while pretending you are doing something useful.

Honestly, defense and entitlements both have to be examined. Collectively they make up an overwhelming percentage of the budget.

Great, let's go after the poor people. They get too much as is. As long as we continue to ensure the pipeline of tax dollars to private enterprise to stockholders, we will continue to retain the high moral ground by making life worse for the poor.
