Patriots' penalties were down this season

Few flags were flying in Patriots games this season, as the team was called for just 78 accepted penalties over the 16-game schedule.

more stories like thisThat total was easily the smallest in Bill Belichick's tenure as coach (since 2000). Not since 1994, Bill Parcells's second season, have the Patriots been called for so few infractions.

This will be Norv Turner's breakout postseason as a head coach.

Take out the 10 in the Colts game and you have 68 in 15 games, 4.6 per game.........

Isn't it then interesting that in the year BB's team had it fewest penalties, the Pats had their most ever Penalty Yardage game, against the Colts. THAT is the reason to fear the Colts. Phantom penalty calls.

That is the only reason we have had to fear the Colts.

They would have beat us once so far without the fake penalties and complete lack of penalties when they spear us, hold our D line and pass interfere.

You could say the same thing about the Steelers when they were basically holding Vrable the entire game with no flag.

We'll have to see which crew is working the Pats' first play-off game.
