TV ratings in: Pats more popular than ever
Record ratings reached during Patriots' regular season - Extra Points - Boston.com
As the Red Sox ratings hit alarming lows, the Pats have done just the opposite. No surprise, as far as I'm concerned. This is a very likable team. And the Kraft-Brady-BB era has ushered in a new generation of fans. |

A very good indicator was that the Sunday nite game against Green Bay, did better than the Survivor Finale, of course locally, but surprisingly nationally.

At the end of the day, football is just the better TV product and if the Pats are contenders then they'll always press the Sox for viewership. |

Baseball is also hurt just by the sheer number of games, football is must see tv since there are only 16. That said this Patriots team is far more likable and fun to watch than the 2010 Red Sox team was. |

Most women don't like football (there are exceptions, of course) and while the men gather around one TV to watch the game, the women are probably watching other shows, not football. |
Re: TV ratings in: Pats more popular than ever
I think the redsox struggles last season had something to do with it. Their season was over by june and there was no compelling story about the team. Since the redsox did not reach the playoffs, the patriots had the attention of the new england region for the whole season.

After a decade of dominance, still an awesome time to be a Boston sports fan.
Sox, Celts, Pats I WANT TRES PARADES!! :rocker: |
Re: TV ratings in: Pats more popular than ever
That is great to hear. Living here in New York I always got the impression Boston was a RedSox town and the Pats were a distant second.
I would still think when the Sox are good they would get more attention, but at least the Pats are getting their due, and if anything they narrowed the gap between the two |
