OT: Mort-MB3 to Atlanta?
Got this off another site...
Marion Barber to Atlanta? Chris Mortensen said the Atlanta Falcons might strike a deal with the Dallas Cowboys, sending their 1st pick in the draft - probably the 3rd or 4th overall pick - to Dallas in exchange for Marion Barber and additional picks. The Cowboys are obviously targeting Arkansas RB Darren McFadden. Jerry Jones is an Arknasas alum. Dallas currently has two picks in the 1st round, approx. the #23 overall pick (from Cleveland) and the 31st pick. Posted on Dec 19, 2007 - 7:41 PM |

Re: OT: Mort-MB3 to Atlanta?
I know people around here aren't very high on Maroney right now, but I don't think that BB/Pioli believe in sinking a top-10 pick into an RB. I think if the Patriots do end up selecting that high in the draft it will be an impact position like O/D Line.

He'll be on the Dolphins. :D

Re: OT: Mort-MB3 to Atlanta?
I don't remember all this ******ing and moaning when Sammy Morris was here. Don't forget he's back next year. He and Maroney make a fine 1-2 punch. I believe we were top-5 in the league in rushing when they were both healthy.

Re: OT: Mort-MB3 to Atlanta?
Move doesn't make much sense to me. Dallas is willing to blow up their running game for highly touted but yet unproven rookie? Their current roster got them to very good roster so why mess around with that? I keep hearing that Jerry Jones has serious hard on for McFadden but is it really worth giving up proven commodity in Marion Barber and a draft pick?
I do hope McFadden is still available when Pats pick. Hope Jerry Jones offers this deal to Pats. :D |
Re: OT: Mort-MB3 to Atlanta?
See, this is why crappy franchises take so long to get out of the mud. Their management makes redonkulous moves such as this. Instead of Barber and a 3rd or whatever, why wouldn't they take both 1sts straight up?! It's clear that they need to add tallent and depth, and certainly not at tailback.
Dear Rich "I DRAFTED BROOKS AND SAPP, GUYS, REMEMBER?!!" McKay: Stop drafting and signing recievers for the love of god!! Draft some linemen. If you want to keep running that gay 4-3, give Brooking two backers to work with, add a stout 2-gap nose to compliment Grady Jackson, go to Seattle and Houston with your hat in your hands and beg for your end and qb back, and kill yourself. |
Re: OT: Mort-MB3 to Atlanta?
Sammy Morris came here with a 4 year contract and LoMo is here in the second year of a 5 year rookie deal. So, for the next 3 years begiining in 2008 the Pats backfield is set. And I think that BB and SP are very happy with that tandem. Morris's injury was a fluke and he'll be fine for next summer. As a result, there is no way the Pats draft a running back that high, even if Mcfdden is still there.
Much of the last two drafts went to the improving the offense. We have Junior who is 38 and Teddy who is I believe 34. Plus, its a decent bet that Samuels is gone and its not like Hobbs has been setting the league on fire this year. We have some issues going forward on defence and this draft should be used to address them. There is some front line defensive talent available to us in 2008 and that is where we should be directing our resources. Another running back? No way. BB and SP are too smart! |
Re: OT: Mort-MB3 to Atlanta?
I don't see Marion Barber in another uniform besides a Cowboys uniform for a long while if he keeps putting up the numbers he's putting up.
He solidifies their offense. And have you seen him block?! |
