Ditka: BB coach of the yr if voted by media not if by coaches

Re: Ditka: BB coach of the yr if voted by media not if by coaches
Then they went off to name all the coaches who wouldn't vote for him.
AKA coaches of team's he's beat this year. Great logic guys, your assuming every coach is bitter from being beat and would refuse to vote BB due to anger. Even if that is the case, you feel that's the proper way to do these things? My god ESPN, you never cease to amaze me. |
Re: Ditka: BB coach of the yr if voted by media not if by coaches
Tom Jackson goes "I think if you asked the coaches, a lot wouldn't vote for him...Coach Mangini..." and listed a few others...
Duh. |
Re: Ditka: BB coach of the yr if voted by media not if by coaches
Why doesn't Tom Jackson just come out and say how much he hates Belichick? I honestly would respect that more than him pretending to be objective.

To me the coach of the year should be the guy who does the most with the least.
In 2001 that was BB no question. Even in subsequent Super Bowl seasons given personnel and injuries etc.... I think a perfect season should be an automatic Coach of the Year Award - and have to think all coaches would agree. Short of that I'd go to the guy who helped his team over-achieve... and with Brady, Moss, Stallworth, Welker etc. on offense, and AD, Seymour, Warren, Wilfork, Samuels etc. on Defense - there's few who would look at them as "over-acheivers" short of a perfect season (and oh, let's not forget our Pro-Bowler to be Chris Hansen at punter! ;) ) |

Re: Ditka: BB coach of the yr if voted by media not if by coaches
This is choice. I am enjoying this "all Patriots all of the time" on every sports show. It doesn't get any better than this. If they were 10-2, they'd be a blip on the radar and you'd have the Colts and Cowboys as the focus.
This is the result of success. Grow a thick skin and enjoy it, because it's not going to diminish until the season is over or the streak ends. Right now, you've got ex coaches who have a claim to possibly being associated to the best team ever (Ditka and the '85 Bears, Shula and the '72 Phins) worried to death that somehow the Pats success lessens theirs. It's a silly concern, but this is why we have these types of discussions. That in a warped way is the best type of compliment! |
Re: Ditka: BB coach of the yr if voted by media not if by coaches
BTW BB is possibly the best coach in the history of the league and certainly the best of this era. He has never won COTY, what does that tell you.
Clev Trev, you are correct. We should enjoy the attn neg and pos it is a reflaction of the year thsi team is having. |

But with this success, some analysts biased views are exposed and it’s quite humorous. Tom Jackson’s blatant Patriots hate is worthy of a topic every week, if not only to roast him for a bit until game time. Also patsfan13, I believe BB won COTY in 2003. |
Re: Ditka: BB coach of the yr if voted by media not if by coaches
Mike McCarthy should be coach of the year, in my opinion. The Packers are an average team, they have no business being 10-2. This is especially true if they make it to the Super Bowl.
