Would the Pats ever go full-time 4-3 defense?
I know we run it situationally, and with Belichcik, every alignment is always in play, depending on matchups, so I don't mean to get into that conversation.
I am just saying as a base package, we could do a whole lot worse than: DE: Seymour DT: Warren DT: Wilfork DE: Green OLB: Thomas ILB: Bruschi/Seau OLB: Vrabel And to pre-empt the "Wilfork can only play nose" argument, keep in mind that he was a pretty damn good interior AND exterior D-Lineman at The U. ----------------------------- R.I.P. Guess not...

Doubt it...They still have the players for the 3-4. They can rotate Vrabs, AD, Seau, Bru & Woods. It would be interesting to see how many plays a game we have 4 LBs in there this season, given we have used some 4-3 against passing offense and have implemented nickel and dime packages and other formations (Rodney essentially playing the role of an LB, Colts game, Cowboys game)...perhaps what we will see is one more DL and one less LB in the nick and dime packages?

If we drafted a de at 1 this spring we could. C.Long or V.Gholston. We have our 2 olb's in Vrabel and A.Thomas.
I'd keep rosie if he restructures. If not, c'est la vie. We would only need to get a mlb. I'd love to have J.Vilma if we went to a 4-3. |

I just can't see the pats paying McFadden all that money, we will trade down. |
We could move to a 4-3 next season if we trade a 3rd round pick for J Taylor of the Dolphins and draft or sign via FA a SPEEDY MLB.
A DL with Green and Seymour as 4-3 ends, won't scare a lot of teams. |

I don't think BB will ever move to a base 4-3. He would have drafted speedy DL/LB's if he ever even wanted to go 4-3. This is more of a RB league than a QB league, the big strong 3-4 will be BB's philosophy unless 20 more peyton and brady's join the league. |
Re: Would the Pats ever go full-time 4-3 defense?
Why would you switch from a successful 3-4 when the 3-4 is more flexible than the 4-3? It makes no sense unless you have personnel issues. We don't have any issues in playing this defense. The 4-3 is more popular because it's easier to get bodies to play it.
