Kicker Stats

Sorry if already posted, but Gost has the second most points (87) in the NFL for kickers, yet, by far, the fewest field goal attempts.

The implications of that are amazing. Just another way to look at the same stat a different way to see how incredible it is.

Sorry if already posted.

That's not quite correct: Gostkowski has 12, as do Olindo Mare and Joe Nedney. (The botched snap doesn't count as an attempt; attempts don't count as kicks unless the kicker's foot actually makes contact). John Carney has 11 for JAX, and Nate Kaeding only has 10 for SD.

It also depends on how you look at things: on the one hand, the Pats haven't kicked vastly fewer FGs than average in an absolute sense (the average team has ~16.4 FG attempts, v. 12 for the Patriots); of course, when you look at FG/drive, the number is obviously far lower. :D

That's right. I actually should have qualified that I only looked at the top 20 scorers. Once you go outside that number, you're talking about guys whose teams just don't get there that often, except for Kaeding. But Kaeding is actually a good guy to put in there to make the point the same way -- with one fewer FG attempt, he has 32 fewer points. Amazing. And that's for a 5-5 team.
