OT: Bill Polian is insane
From his Q&A on the Colts' site:
Quote:
Ok, so just because the replay official was the only one who saw that the Colts clearly got a generous spot, Polian will need to talk to the league about it at the appropriate time. What exactly is he going to talk to them about? That it is an unwritten league rule that the refs must give the Colts generous spots like the one in the Pats game where a Joseph Addai rush was about a yard behind the marker before the commercial and then marked just over the first down marker when they come back from a commerical break? The replay clearly showed as both Madden and Michaels pointed out that Addai did not get to the first down marker in the Chargers game. He needed to get to the six. Originally, the refs spotted him at the 5 yards and about 10 inches mark where he clearly landed about the 6 1/2 yard line. Where exactly is the beef here? Funny, Polian praises the refs when all the questionable calls went his way in the Pats/Colts game. Now neither he nor Dungy can stop complaining either to the press or the league about the calls when all the bad calls went against them in the Chargers game. By the way, the only bad call I really saw in the Chargers was the whistle on the interception. I actually thought the false start call was correct because Utect clearly was trying to similate a snap and not just go in motion. |
Re: OT: Bill Polian is insane
The refs missed a PI against the Bolts as well. An understandable human oversight miss as slow motion replay showed it; it was not blatant.
Polian is such a whiner. |
Re: OT: Bill Polian is insane
Hopefully Goodall will tell Polian to get the ***** away and leave him alone. If one thing is obvious by now it's that Goodall isn't gonna take any *****; the fact that he had Feirera talk to him about the bull***** officiating we got in the Colt game shows me that he's not Polian's puppet. I'm as pissed as anyone about the way Goodall handled Spygate but I am confident that comments like "We’ll discuss that with the league office at the appropriate time" aren't going to get Polian very far.

Re: OT: Bill Polian is insane
Polian's claim is pretty much "I wanted the spot to be a first down, but it wasn't. I will complain about this."
I doubt it is stupidity. It might just be harassment of the league to goad them into making favorable calls for Indy later on. It seems to be a big part of his job. |

Bill you have absolutely NOTHING to complain about, the calls you got in that Patriot game were so one-sided it should cover you for the next 5 seasons. |
Re: OT: Bill Polian is insane
The problem is that while I agree he is an insufferable whiner, he most certainly is not insane. He knows that the more he whines, the more future calls he will get for his team. It is a strategy that has proven to be a very successful one.

What on earth can he "discuss with the league office at the appropriate time"? That they were given a bad spot and had it corrected by instant replay? Clealy the man is mostly ego. |
Re: OT: Bill Polian is insane
I say let him rave on. The rest of the league and the country is seeing this deranged sociopath for exactly what he is. At some point, with all of this, he is going to make so many enemies within the league that there won't be any more room on the "Grassy Knoll" for any more gunmen (configuratively speaking), that the league is eventually going to be forced to have the Colts to do something about this guy, or they will pay a hefty penalty for it, one way or another.
