Troy Brown and the PUP clock [mergedx2]
I believe they had to start the clock on Troy Brown today or lose him for the season.
Not sure there is room for troy right now, it's too bad. |
Re: troy brown
has to be activated by monday i believe, though i could be wrong

Re: troy brown
I imagine he'd have to announce his retirement then.
If that's the case, they can't make too big a deal about this, meaning he should be feted like the great Boston sports hero he is. |

When the Patriots Hall of Fame is up Troy Brown should have a huge section in there. |
Re: troy brown
The deadline to start practicing is this coming week. I imagine he'll do that and if an injury happens in the next three weeks to the WR then we'll have Troy ready to go. If not there will be a tough choice to be made.

Re: troy brown
Tuesday is the final day and he will be cleared to practice.
Now, mark my words - Troy Brown will be on this active roster within 2-3 weeks and he will make plays, just as he always has. There is always a spot for Troy Brown and we will be thankful at some point this year that we have him. |

2. They don't need any room for him because starting the clock does not take up a roster space. Adding him to the roster DOES take up a roster space. I would have been mildly surprised to see the clock start far in advance of the deadline. I will be very surprised is the Patriots don't start the clock on Troy at all. There really isn't any downside to doing this. Who knows what will happen over the next three weeks. |
