Craig Not Resigning, Again

After a judge ruled against Sen. Craig, Craig decided he would remain in his job. So long filibuster.

I thought he made the right decision.

If David Vitter (R. La) is allowed to serve in the Senate after admitting that he slept with prostitutes, why should Larry Craig (R. Idaho) be forced to quit the Senate for misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct??

If Studds & Frank stayed, why not Vitter? OH, that's right, the GOP has no principles or soul, and would do anything to get elected. They're the only ones!

He shouldn't be forced to do anything, and niether should Vitter. Pressured yes, forced no. Ultimately it is their choice, and up to the people who elected them, to decide their future. If I were the GOP, I'd make it clear that they need to go, and I wouldn't personally support either guy. I will say this, the Craig incident troubles me in this sense, what did he criminally do? Now, don't get me wrong, I do think that he was in that bathroom looking for sex, but can you really be arrested for tapping your shoe? Doesn't that seem strange to anyone? I would think the cops would need a little more than tapping a shoe and rubbing your finger on the stall wall. Again, I think he was there to do whatever is alleged, but I'm a little surprised that it takes so little to arrest somebody for stuff like that. I'm not a cop, and wasn't there, so maybe that's why it's not clear to me. Am I alone here?

The Democrats are not the prigs that Republicans are. The Democrats know that people make mistakes in their private lives, and are more forgiving. People like Craig and Vitter have a double standard, but double standards are the M.O. of the Republican Party ever since they got in bed with the religious right.

I disagree about the double standards. If it was a double standard, they wouldn't all have jumped on Vitters and Craig the way they did. Most Republicans were adamant that they wanted them both gone.

That's more true of Craig than Vitters. I hardly see the kind of indignation that they direct at Clinton, Studds, or Frank directed at Vitters, and I bet they'll be pretty quiet about Craig, too. Personally, I don't think either of them should resign. They apologized and that should be the end of it.

So then, isn't a person who supports the Franks and Studds' of the world a hypocrite for criticizing a Vitter and Craig? And please, don't give me that more forgiving crap. That is such a load of BS. Dems, like any other organziation hell bent on perserving it's own, simply refuses to admit guilt, and hold one of its own accountable. They "forgive" because it keeps the seat. Just like a union has to be at gun point to fire one of it's own. We're a very forgiving society Patters, but most sensible people also understand that while people makes mistakes, they need to be held accountable. Simply holding a microphone and saying I'm sorry doesn't cut it for me, or for most sensible people. What bothers me even more is when people entrusted with a job to protect the interests of the people abuse their power, and are never held accountable. Fogiving doesn't mean a free pass. When you let losers keep their spot, all you are doing in enabling the next guy to do worse. Like MMikey said, why can Craig if Vitter stayed? Well, why can Vitter if Franks stayed? And why can Studds if Franks stayed? So why can....in the end, we get what we deserve I guess.

Imagine the laughs the other politician scumbags have when Craig walks into the Congressional Mens Room with them.

It's one thing to have an alternative sexual preference but for Christ Sake don't take it into the f-cking toilet where other people are trying to have a bowel movement.

Craig is a piece of *****.

They're all POS who are an embarassment to the office they served. Look at them all, and then wonder why society is in the shape that it's in. Well, if these people can get away with being losers, then why can't everybody else? Part of being an elected official, whether you like it or not, is being moral, and ethical. You're on a stage in front of the country's men, women, and (most importantly) children who look up to you for leadership. If you're up there cheating on your wife, embezzling money, taking kick backs, having sex in rest rooms, molesting children, or running a brothel inside your apartment, are caught, and get to keep your job, what message are we sending the public? That it's ok to do this kind of crap? Oh, my bad, but he said he was sorry. Dang, I must have missed that.
