Pats #1 in Total Offense and Defense

Not counting tonight's Monday night's game, the New England Patriots lead the entire NFL in Total Offense, @ 441.0 Yards Per Game. Dallas is second at 420.3 YPG.

The Patriots are also #1 in the NFL in Total Defense, having given up only 207.0 Yards Per Game. Pittsburgh is second @ 244.3 YPG.

It's only stats, but I think we all can see from watching the games, that this team is more than just stats.

When all is said and done, this may be one of the top 10 teams of all time.

only if they win the superbowl.

I think points scored and points allowed is a better stat.

Ultimately, I think ppg vs the opponents ppg allowed is even better but you have to wait about 7 or 8 weeks into the season to get a better sample.

Agreed. It is great that we fans can have fun with this now, after what we went through with EricTheRatGate.

I don't think since the Rams in 2001 did a team finish in the top 2 in both offense and defense. The Rams were #1 in offense and #2 in defense. If they won the Super Bowl that year, they probably would have gone into the history books as one of the best teams of all time. I think this team is better based on the first three weeks.

I wanna see this be true for the whole season

Stats didn't matter when we won Superbowls and they still don't when we have won nothing. It's 3 games in and if 2002 taught us anything, everything can change.

I don't have the energy to go dig up the game logs from last year right now, but it seems that we had a lot of games with 10+ penalties last year. So far, the refs have been letting us play........

2001 Rams < 2001 Pats < 2007 Pats, so you're right!
