Comparison to 2001
This means NOTHING but odd parallel that popped into my mind last night:
Something I just happened to remember: 2001 Beldsoe signs a record deal w/ Pats. Game 1 @ Bengals - Loss, Game 2 vs Jets - Loss and Bledsoe injured - enter Tom Brady and Super Bowl. 2010 Brady sign record deal. Game 1 vs Bengals. Game 2 @ Jets... What's gonna happen? Super Bowl with Brian Hoyer?!? |

Re: Comparison to 2001
While the op IMO is in bad form (I also think Bledsoe signed his contract in 2000, not 01 but i col be wrong) it is interesting to look back at 01, because the first 2 opponents are the same.
We looked putrid in Cincy, then worse at home against the Jets. Given the doom and gloom, .500 predictions and such around here these days, its an interesting perspective. If we lose these 2 games and look terrible doing it, we are in the same spot as the 2001 Champs. The relevance being, nothing matters until the games are played on the field. |

Re: Comparison to 2001
I'll stick with my comparison to the 1996 Pats, with the combination of veterans, established star QB, and 1st-2nd-3rd-year guys who went on to form a strong core.
1996 New England Patriots Statistics & Players | Pro-Football-Reference.com FWIW, I believe that team also started 0-2 on the way to the Super Bowl. Though I don't see 0-2 happening in '10. |

Re: Comparison to 2001
I'm not comparing except to say what it looks like isn't always what it is.
It would be nice if we could revert this board back to the days where playing games mattered. |
