*Official* Predict the Score Contest, Week 1 NE @ NYJ

Welcome to a new season of the Predict the Score contest! Post your predictions here for Week 1, New England Patriots at New York Jets.

This contest is open to everyone, it's both a weekly and a season-long contest. Stakes are bragging rights.

Each week I will tabulate and post the scores for the previous week's contest, as well as the cumulative season standings for those who have played every week. As a one-time allowance for computer problems, forgetfulness, or whatever, a week can be missed any time before the final week and will be assigned that week's average score.

Scoring:
Your score is the COMBINED deviation of your predicted score for the Pats and opponents REGARDLESS OF DIRECTION. For example, if you predict Patriots 28 Jets 24 your score is how many points off of 28 the Pats are (over or under does not matter) PLUS how many points off of 24 the Jets are (over or under again does not matter). Lowest score wins.

You may change your prediction at any time before kickoff either by editing your original post or by adding a new one. Predictions made in other threads don't count unless they were clearly meant for this contest but were posted elsewhere by mistake.

Please keep this thread to predictions only, no back-and-forth discussion of the game. A short comment explaining your pick is OK, for example "Pats 28 Jests 0, because Mangini spent nine months gameplanning against Seymour and Harrison and won't have time to adjust to their absences." But no dissertations.

Good luck!

I particpated in exactly one of these last year and it was the week 3 game vs. Denver. My pick was a Denver win by the score of 17-7. Needless to say, I was right and never did it again. Well, since it's late and I'm bored, I'll give it another whirl.

Since I think the Jets are over rated BIG TIME! I'll say....

Patriots 27
Jets 14

The only reason I gave the Jets 14 is because no Harrison and no Seymour. If they were out there, the Jets might score under 10.
