Re: thank doug gabriel for moss?
Somewhat overlooked in this discussion - Gabriel must have also had very good things to tell Moss about the Pats and the organization, despite his unceremonious mid-season dumping.

Re: thank doug gabriel for moss?
Now the conspiracy freak in me says that the whole Gabriel deal is starting to look like an extended "feeler." What a concept...
"Hey oakland, let us borrow him, and we'll give you a fifth... we just want to ask a few questions..." Nahhhh. PFnV |
Re: thank doug gabriel for moss?
Gabriel just suffers from some kind of mind cramps. His teams seem to basically like him, but something leads him to keep getting dumped.

That was the first thing that crossed my mind. Maybe they made the trade hoping he worked out, but knew they now had the added bonus of picking his brain about Moss' attitude. |
Re: thank doug gabriel for moss?
What Gabriel was probably able to impart to BB that he would have found of interest, was his "teammate" qualities. If I recall correctly, Gabriel said that Moss was an excellent mentor and very encouraging to him. In other words, NOT a locker room cancer.

Re: thank doug gabriel for moss?
If you read the latest Tomase article, BB was contacted by Moss during the Deion Branch fiasco. Moss told Belichick that he would love to play for the Pats. The Pats didn't trade for him at that time probably because the Raiders would've wanted a 1st round pick.
