Denial is Running Rampant in NFL

I think it is absolutely hilarious how the rest of the NFL is reacting to the Pats offseason. I have visited Colts, Jets, Broncos, Chargers, and Steelers sites, and every one has a long thread about the Pats' offseason. They all have the two things in common...they attempt to minimize the impact of the acquisitions, and ....they are very long threads.

I must have missed it, but where is the agonizingly long thread on THIS site about "AFC Team X's" overrated offseason?

We are in the heads of the rest of the league. The biggest downside is that it unfortunately removes the bullseye from the Colts' back where it rightfully belongs.

The Steelers and Colts won the last two SBs, but it seems everyone still considers the Pats to be the class of the NFL....we'll at least they are getting THAT part right.

If the Colts or Chargers had our offseason, I'd definitely spend some keystrokes trying to convince myself that it was no big deal.

That, or just roll up into a ball and cry.

The offseason leaves room for denial, because we have yet to see the results on the field.

At the same time I not going to think we are the greatest until I see it on the field, but I am still very excited.:D

I would be doing the same thing. Last year I was trying to minimize Tomlinson's accomplishment before we played them, but after that game I got what everyone else knew. That guy is amazing. I think he really realized his full potential this year. Their offensive line isn't bad either.

We're in the heads of the fans, not the NFL or the players. The league understands what has happened, but that does mean, as you say, that the bullseye may be on the Pats as much as the Colts.

Their OL is way better than "isn't bad". The Charger OL beat NE's DL consistently in the playoff game. Sure, they did attack TBC regularly, but I saw the rookie LT beat Seymour on several occasions.

Without seeing every team regurlarly I can't say they are the best in the league, but they were certainly the best I saw all last year.

I was using an understatement to prove a point. I was really impressed with their line. They were decent in pass blocking but great in run blocking. That rookie is great but I think Seymour was really injured. He had the elbow and knee injuries, which he had surgery for, and just watching him you could see he wasn't at full health. Teams started targeting him and TBC on running plays.

Sorry for my misunderstanding.

BTW, I too thought that NE would hold LdT in check, but it wasn't because of any discrediting of him. I thought that NE's DL would win the LOS like they usually do, and like they did against NY the game before. I guess that is why I was so quick to jump to their defense.

Not saying Pats shut LT down, but the Chargers did only score a touchdown in teh 2nd half and the Pats defense got the ball back for the offense multiple times in the 4th quarter. I'd say our defense won the battle vs their offense that day despite some good running from LT.....
