Was this a throw away draft ??

I have to wonder if this was a throw away draft. The Pats traded away almost all of the picks that could have helped this team.

We have problems at Safety, CB and MLB. We addressed Safety but we still problems at CB and LB but we did not address either. Instead we picked up a proven head case/quitter in Randy Moss.

Have the Past become the Cowboys picking up trailer park trash ?

I nominate this as a PatsFans.com Hall of Fame post.

Seriously, this is the post of the year.

You forgot to mention how we signed ADALIUS THOMAS.

With our draft picks, we picked up Welker, Moss, a 1st rounder in 2008, and 3rd rounder in 2008.

What are you complaining about?

I am talking about the draft. I like the Donte Stallworth signing. The Welker trade is open. I expected us to pick up a CB, Safet and LB. We got the safety but we still have a serious need at CB. ILB is also still a concern. Vrable moved inside this year and played well. Teddy B I believe is close to retirement.

I would have liked another CB and I would have liked another ILB.

I think Kiper said he only had 17 players in this year's draft with 1st round grades. So, if the Pats got one of them, then I'm content with the way things went down. Seems like the Pats played the value card fairly well.

With the way free agency went, I told my good friend yesterday morning, I could care less who the Pats draft if they traded a mid-round pick for Randy Moss. Now we have Moss and I love it. I love the addition of Merriweather and a potential high pick in next years draft.

Are you suggesting that the Patriots had the opportunity to use picks on guys that would help this team out this but just for the fun of it decided to pass on them for unknown players and future draft picks? Think about what you are saying.

The draft isn't about what you would have liked it's about what Belichick and Pioli like.

Exactly! They know a lot more about what a David Harris or anyone else available at 28 would have brought to the table for us, even more than the hairhelmetted mel kiper jr. I know everyone wanted us to bring in a stud MLB that we could evision stepping right in and being the next Bruschi but there was only one Patrick Willis on the board. This was a crap draft and BB/SP saw a whole lot more VALUE in having two first round picks where BOTH PICKS are FIRST ROUND talent.

I think this is yet another sign that BB/SP are here for a while, clearly they seem to be quite content running the model NFL franchise. I think everyone needs to realize what a special organization we have, one where professional athletes come to not for money but to WIN.

In today's NFL you can't just look at the draft on it's own. You have to consider FA's they picked up with it for total players picked up. In that sense the Patriots had a banner offseason. They may not be done either and still may pick up a UFA ILB like Seau.
