Released Memo of Bush-Blair 2003 Meeting: Deliberately Mislead the Public into War
Published by the BBC and other news, a 2003 memo reveals that months before the Iraq invasion and still no WMD were found yet, Bush and Blair plotted ways to manipulate Americans into the Iraqi invasion, including painting an American plane with United Nations colors and flying it into Iraq to be shot down, as well as producing a fake Iraqi 'defector' to confirm Saddam's WMDs:
---------- "From private talks between George Bush and UK PM Tony Blair, the memo makes it clear the US was determined to go to war whether or not he had UN backing. The memo indicates both leaders acknowledged it was possible no unconventional weapons would be found in Iraq before the invasion, the New York Times says. The note cites Mr Bush suggesting three ways in which Iraq could be provoked into confrontation. The US "was thinking of flying U2 reconnaissance aircraft with fighter cover over Iraq, painted in UN colours", Mr Bush said. If Saddam fired on them, the Iraqis would be in breach of UN resolutions, he suggested. He also indicated the US "might be able to bring out a defector" to talk about Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction, and mentioned a proposal to assassinate the Iraqi leader." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4849744.stm http://www.channel4.com/news/article...se+memo/161410 |

Well the Iraqi's had >6 months to move any materials out of the country while we screwed around at the UN with the French and Russians.
General Sada claimed that the material was sent to Syria by aircraft, after a dam break in 2006. The ISG felt it was improbable that any WMD was moved, but said they dcouldn't rule this possibility. They did not speak to Sada to the best of my knowledge. UNMOVIC also reported to teh security councilo that WMD had been moved out of Iraq. http://www.netscape.com/viewstory/20...php&frame=true |

patsfan13, regardless of conspiracy theories over what happened to the WMD (if they were ever there), the main issue is Bush and Blair plotted ways to bring this country to war by manufacturing alternative reasons in case the WMD reason wasn't enough. The point is, your beloved leader has been proven to go to lengths such as using lies, manipulation, and deception to accomplish his goals. You probably don't care though, as you choose to believe in Bush first and fit the rest of the facts of the world around that.

We know they were there from the dead bodies of the Kurds who were gassed. The possibility of the WMD being moved ( rom multiple sources), make simplistic blanket condemnations of the motives of the administraion seem like conspricacy mania.

if there was a modern program to develop WMDs, an inordinant amount of evidence would be left behind... you don't just pack up the plant and move it to the neighbor's... especially a neighbor that Saddam wasn't even speaking with at the time (Syria).... your attempts to deflect from yet another piece of unflattering evidence against your manipulative Boy King hero remain hollow... |
Re: Released Memo of Bush-Blair 2003 Meeting: Deliberately Mislead the Public into Wa
patsfan13, you seem to be deliberately changing the argument.
Regardless of what happened to WMD, Bush and Blair talked about coming up with other fake reasons to go into Iraq, such as painting a US plane with UN colors and getting it shot down by Iraqi forces, as a pretext for war. Stop trying to bring the existence or non-existence of WMD into this discussion, it has nothing to do with that news article. |

Just asking has anyone published a PDF of the original or are these claims that can't be verified?

THe Kurds were gassed in the mid 90's pay attention if you want to comment. Well there were the translated Iraqi documents that spoke of their ongoing programs. A number have been published, but when the dems took control of congress the program was shut down. |

That they didn't find any stock piles of weapons was very surprising to me. None the less, they didn't. What's perplexing is the Iraqi position prior to the war. If he didn't have any, then why the shirades for so many years? The resolution in question clearly put the onus on Iraq for a reason, or two actually. Those reasons were to ensure that Saddam came clean, since he had a history of use, and also to ensure that aggression were more likely. Why? Becuase it was more about geo-political change than anything else. Regime change has always been the motive with Saddam since the 90's. |
