Adalius Thomas- character guy, leader and good work ethic

I've been reading every article and watching all the video I can about Thomas trying to get an insight into his character and leadership qualities. From everything I've read and heard-NESN said he was a presence in the lockeroom and the articles were positive-in regards to his giving out turkeys and quietly slipping the shelter a check, etc-he seems, at first glance anyway, to be a quality guy and a good fit for the Patriots.

Comments from other coaches and players would also indicate he has a strong work ethic-another Patriot hallmark. I like the fact that he was a 6th round pick and had to work his way into the lineup over the course of a few years. He must be motivated to spend the time to learn all those different positions. I wouldn't be surprised if he lines up a tight end a few times this year.

So my first impressions of him in these areas are really positive. This is a great signing and just what we need-possibly on a few different levels.
First impressions can be deceiving, but I hope I'm right.

I think this may have been linked off the Herald regarding his SLASH fund to help kids. http://www.adslashfund.org/ad_in_the_community.html

Some highlights include:
regularly visiting an elementary school where his wife used to teach and
giving the kids Raven's tickets.

A finalist for the Byron "Whizzer" White Humanitarian Award, given to
the NFL player who best represents dedication to team, community and
country.

Works with his church youth group in Nixburg, Alabama and developed
a funding program

There's a bunch more listed as well.

I'll go back and see if I can link any of the other articles, but a number of them have already been linked here.

Here's a paragraph from http://www.pressboxonline.com/story.cfm?id=1541, that sheds some insight on him.

Not only that, Thomas has been a Media Good Guy honoree and a Ravens Roost Unsung Hero award winner in the past. His Sportsmen Lifting Academics and Sponsoring Hope (SLASH) Foundation has helped underprivileged youngsters improve their lives. And, of course, there's that on-field workload, spotlighted nationally in a late-season ESPN The Magazine cover story.

It also said that he was a practice squad player during his rookie season in 2000, so he has probably earned everything he's gotten.

Here is the ESPN story which has already been posted here, but It's pretty good so I thought I'd re-post it as well http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2688334

Paul Perillo mentioned on NEST last night that the knock on him coming out of college is that he is lazy. Obviously, what he accomplished in Baltimore proves that this was not an issue. However, Perillo speculated that there may be some question as to how A.T. will respond to a big pay-day. Will he have the same intensity/dedication?

Adalius Thomas is AD damnit! :)

And we're talking about a guy who appears to have taken a discount to play on a championship team. I think that says something about his mindset concerning work and money.
