Ok now that the season is over i was wondering why we cut him.
Exactly why.

so "he didn't catch a lot of balls" or "i think he was too big to run the routes" aren't correct answers.

It was almost certainly an attitude issue. Specifically, the coaching staff must not have been impressed with how he responded to being benched after the Jets game.

yeah that's the game he had that fumble on the sideline right?

I don't think he ever really fit in. He would always warm up before the game by himself in the corner near the end zone. Plus my father and I were at gillette following the jets lose and we were not allowed to watch practice or anything but we did see a few of the WR walking to the practice field. As expected all the gators were walking together but Gabriel was alone and he walked with his head down like he wasn't happy.

I wondered the same thing because it was bold move for a team little talent and depth at the receiver position. Personally, I was waiting for the Caldwell bubble to burst, Troy Brown to pull up lame and Chad Jackson to be put on IR.

I am a Belichick and Pioli faithful, so I trusted that cutting Gabriel was a good move for the team. I did question if it allowed a better performance on the field and results in the win column.

I heard his work ethic was poor as being another reason the Pats didn't mind cutting him. Attitude was largely rumored for the cut I believe.

Scott Zolak showed very succesfully that Gabriel was consistently making the wrong choice on option routes, leading to picks and near picks.

Whether there was an attitude problem or not I don't know. I didn't sense any undertones in Belichick's statement about it being purely an "on field" decision.

Consider some of the facts ... he comes from the raiders with moss and joey .raiders offence is throw the ball deep and let this guys go get them.very very simple compared to the complexity of the patriots game.

Have you every thought why most claim the patriots offence is complex and always throw in work ethic in their?. With a complex offence brady/bb meet tuesday and comeup with the game plan.
so wednesday morning you get your play book .Here comes the work ethic you are suppose to know every play in the book with this few hundred plays [the longer you stay the better you get but initial months you are busting your ass to memorize these] - aka work ethic.

when the OC is calling plays i do not think gaberial knew them? i doubt him coming from a simple throw and go get it offence to a comple studying offence had issues.

---patriots run a complex offense meaning alot of book work and able to remember these . a reason i appreciate jabbar and reche as it must have been hard to get this down.especially for jabar . remember that we did not use him for a few weeks and what do you think he was doing? studying.
