The Other Great News Today

QB Jamarcus Russell of LSU declares eligible for the 2007 Draft:

Why is this big news for the Pats?

It's like they just gained one higher spot in the first round. They don't need a QB and they won't take one, but some are saying this kid may go even before Brady Quinn. Kirk Herbstreidt just compared him favorably to (the younger version of) Daunte Culpepper. If that causes, say Cleveland to go the QB route instead of the guy we want, then that's fabulous.

Always good to see these Juniors come out early to make the draft more crowded for the Pats with 2 first rounders!

So, every high pick we wouldn't be interested in
is like moving up one slot!
Cool.

idk..Russell doesnt make very good decisions

hes got a great arm and great size but i read a thing from a scout that works for like 11 teams saying his decision making isnt that good..he isnt very smart and some other things..

i'll find the article for you

http://www.lsubeat.com/apps/pbcs.dll...0202/701030320

but then again..when Raiders see his arm they'll take ihm so wouldnt be suprised

also rumor from USA Today says Calvin Johnson will stay at GTech if Raiders are commited to picking him..in other words..he doesnt want to be a raider

You make a brilliant and accurate point!

Others too like Sidney Rice and a DL from Arkansas, it's looking like a strong draft and our picks should produce very solid players.

Bears fans must love this news... Lions + Brady Quinn seems like another Joey disaster in the making in their division.

What's even better is when early-entry candidates, who are mid-to-upper 1st-round calibre, who play at positions unlikely to be targeted in the 1st round by the Pats (e.g. QB, RB, TE, DL), delare themselves eligible. Then, hopefully, players at positions of greater need (e.g. LT, WR, ILB, OLB, CB, S) slide far enough to be taken at 22 and 32.

Unless someone offers at least a mid-2nder and next year's 1st, I would like to see the Pats use both of their 1st-round picks, in order to stock the shelves with their LBs and DBs of the future.

Drafting a LT would be pointless. What would you do with Light, Kaczur, and O'Callaghan?!?!
