Mangold deal coming today
Will reportedly make him the highest paid center in the league. Of course the devil will be in the details, and according to the NYDaily News Jets beat reporter while $24M is guaranteed in the 7 year $55M deal - there is risk being assumed by both the player and the team in some sort of compromise approach proposed and worked out over the weekend. Of course in order for that to happen Mangold had to be on board and his agent had to be engaged and motivated to get a deal done...and they had to be willing to find or consider a compromise that worked for both sides... The JETS also likely were motivated to do this deal to send a message to Revis who is in day 24 of his holdout. They say Harris will not get his deal this year, however.
It will be interesting to see what level of guarantee really exists in the deal. If it's rolling guarantees again it isn't really guaranteed. How the Nick Mangold contract negotiations were resurrected |
Re: Mangold deal coming today
This $ deal will only serve to enrage Logan further.

Logan Mankins doesn't need the money | ProFootballTalk.com But he'll never make, in 6 year span, what an NFL team will give him.. That being said, maybe he does want to be closer to his ranch or some other outside force is pulling him or maybe he just doesn't want to play here anymore.. But at some point, before the start of the season, I hope he's signed or traded. |

I don't see why this deal would enrage Mankins. It should get him to sign.
The last year will be padded, as all such deals are. This is below the Evans deal. This is more in line with what the Patriots offered Mankins, and I don't care what anyone says, these two players are equals in my book. You can't convince me one is better than the other. |
