"Opponents have been giving us the underneath route with him and double covering him over the top," said quarterback J.P. Losman. "They're forcing us to throw the ball underneath and that's just where the ball has to go right now. And that's where it will go until they take it away."

Tolbert has already seen things beginning to open up deep due to Evans' recent effectiveness in the shorter patterns.

"He's tough to cover," said Patriots' head coach Bill Belichick. "He's tough deep. He's tough short. He's a good run-after-the-catch guy. He can take a five-yard pass and turn it into a long gain."

Belichick was impressed that Evans figured out a way to make a play despite the very tight double coverage, which is why he's telling is players not to relax just because they're devoting two defenders to him.
"We've told our players, just because we're doubling him doesn't mean he won't get the ball and he won't get open," said Belichick.
