How are You Preparing for the Upcoming (D) Congress ?

It looks like we're going to be stuck with Democrats raping our wallets soon. And the horror of a (D) in the White House too.

Seriously, I'm going to have to look at the various tax shelters I should have been looking at before to get my taxable income down. I'm not rich but I'm sure the (D)s think I am.

I'm "stuck" with an insanely good interest rate on my mortgage so there's not much help there. I am going to have to start one of those Health Savings Accounts where I can put pre tax money into an account and be reimbursed for health costs (dentist visits, etc). I can also do the same with daycare costs. My 401K is already maxed out so there's no help there.

Bottom line, anyone making over, say, $50K better prepare however they can to be butt *****ed for the next 4 to 8 years. It's time to get that taxable income down by any legal means possible.

I think you're a bit paranoid BF. There's no way the Democrats will raise taxes on the middle class. It would be political suicide and, besides, sadly, the Democrats are now run by the DLC, which is a decidedly moderate group. At any rate, keep in mind that Congress can create tax shelters and take them away.

First, I don't think (D)s consider me to be middle class although I do. Second, the mild tax shelters I refer to are basically becomming required as more and more of us have nothing more than catastrophic health coverage. Day to day stuff, I'm on my own like many people. The Health Savings Accounts, while a pain in the ass, help out there.

Hey, one good thing will come out of this. With a Democrat congress and a Republican President, less laws will be passed and we can all agree that the less "solutions" our elected officials impose on us the better off we'll be. The really important, no brainer stuff they'll get along on because it would be political suicide not to, but all the controvertial stuff will have to wait, and I think we could all use a good cooling off period.

I'd prefer a split evil as opposed to the dominance of one side.

I actually do agree with that and despise the added spending Bush has stuck us with.

Why? Wasn't it just a few months ago you were claiming that we should annihilate the middle east at all cost?? Now you are worried that the costs may be too high? Isn't Bush's spending justified during war?

Are you flip-flopping or just getting soft on the idea of bankrupting america?

I wasn't talking about the war costs. I was talking about all the spending here, especially the prescription drug giveaway with Medicare.

Now, the Mexican border fence - I'm in favor of that spending.
