Quick Question (Adalius Thomas)?

Hi all,

I was just reflecting on the whole lack of leadership story that seemed to dominate the early offseason and Adalius came to mind. Is anyone surprised that he hasn't been signed to a roster yet? I would have thought that he'd be on somebody's team at this late juncture, but it just hasn't happened for him. Will he play this year? Have there been any reports of teams interested?

Not surprised at all. I think his actions last season almost guaranteed that people wouldn't want to touch him unless they really were in a bind. I could see the Jets still pick him up especially if Jason Taylor continues not to do much (Taylor didn't even record an assisted tackle on Monday night).

Guys like Thomas become almost untouchable when their skills erode and they are now labelled lockerroom cancers.

My thoughts exactly. The reason guys like TO, etc get so many chances is because they still have talents you can't really get anywhere else for that cheap. For what Adalius brought last year on the field (very little), even at short money you can probably find a younger player who can give you as much production, with higher potential down the road, and no locker room headaches.

Shawn Crable comes to mind...

I'm a little surprised that nobody has picked him up, even with the headaches and eroding skills. That being said, I'm glad he's still unclaimed this late in the preseason. Shame- it seemed like such a good move to sign him (at least to me) at the time. Time to move on.

He was awesome to me in 2007. He did everything BB asked him to do and he did it well. He played inside well, and he still performed when they eventually moved him back outside. I don't know why the next few seasons were so bad.

I think you guys are reading too much into it. If I had to bet, he didn't get the money he wanted. I'm sure teams tried to sign him to a short money deal, but it was AD who rejected the offers.

He very well might've priced himself out.

That being said, don't forget that Ty Law did the same exact thing.

I am with you on this a little....I am guessing there is more to the story than just 0 teams have intrest. But I think we would have heard some rumors if a team really made an offer. My guess would be either a) he set an asking price that has not solicited any offers and hasnt come down on price yet or b) he wanted to skip camp and will take whatever offer he might get in the next few weeks. Cetainly the possibility that he just stinks and is a malcontent and no one is interested is possible as most here would agree with that assesment but usually there is at least one out 32 (well 31 obviously not gonna be us).

I think they all watched the tape and combined with an unrealistic asking price and some attitude concerns that's been enough. To be remotely effective most teams want veteran FA in for at least camp so they can pick up the system. The other thing is for all the uncapped talk, few teams have appeared willing to squander any money this off season beyond a handful of the desperate, mismanaged teams where FO/HC jobs if not stadiums/venues are on the line...and AD doesn't have the Q rating factor most of them also require to open the purse strings. And the JETS would have some splainin' to do AGAIN in the locker room if they added him at more than Revis and Mangold and Harris are making. I think their hands are tied until they at least figure out what it's gonna cost to get Revis in.

C)his asking price was able to be met by teams and he was OK with going to camp and participating in 2 a days but there aren't any teams that need his services at this point and time.

I'd put money on him going to the UFL in the near future and signing after a few injuries.
