Felger: BB/Scott #1 draft choices
Last night on NEST Felger commented on the first rounddraft choices of the BB/Scott era.
He declared all of them a success. Said that it is unusual to hit on all 7 of the #1's the way that they have. Just to refresh: 2000- no first rounder 2001- Seymour 2002- Graham 2003- Warren 2004-1a Wilfork 1B Watson 2005- Mankins 2006- Maroney. I was surprised to hear him declare Maroney a sucess as he has yet to play in a regular season NFL game. We all think that he will be special but I would think that we should see how his full rookie season goes before calling him a sucess. For those who like trivia- there are three other first round draft picks on the roster as of today. Can you name them? |

Tebucky was the 22nd overall pick by the Pats in 1998. Scott was the 24th overall pick by the Steelers in 1997. Seau was the 5th overall pick by the Chargers in 1990. Sullivan was the 6th overall pick by the Saints in 2003. |

...funny how we all forget Tebucky was a 1st rounder. |
Re: Felger: BB/Scott #1 draft choices
I've seen the right answers now (the database crapped out so I had to copy and paste after it came back up), so I was only off by Chad Brown/Scott. I was close!
"hmm.. Corey was in the 2nd, so it's not him. It's not our OL, so scratch them. I don't think Reche was a 1st rounder (2nd or 3rd I believe).. Our DL are almost exclusively draft choices or UDFAs, LBs... Chad Brown maybe? Rodney wasn't a first rounder (5th?).. Hrm, I'm having a hard time coming up with the other guys. Colvin was a 4th rounder I think.. oh, one was Sullivan. So Sullivan, Chad Brown, oh... and Tebucky was one of our first rounders back when he was drafted (I think he was one of two first rounders along with Robert Edwards that season?). Sullivan, Tebucky, Chad Brown?" |
What is the BB/Pioli success rate in the second round???
I high degree of hits in the first two rounds usually spells long term success. Provided you have the right QB. |
