LONDON — ANSA news agency reported that Italian police arrested 40 people in security operation after British aircraft terror plot thwarted as Pakistani intelligence agents claimed there was an Al Qaeda connection with ties to Afghanistan to the group of suspected terrorists arrested Thursday.

In a statement, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said the arrests underscored "the very important role that has been played by Pakistan in breaking this international terrorist network." It said there were "indications of Afghanistan-based Al Qaeda connection" in the case, but did not elaborate.

British officials released a list of 19 of the suspects while travelers in Britain's airports faced increased security and cancelled flights.

Five Pakistanis have been arrested in Pakistan as suspected "facilitators" of the plot, a government official said, in addition to two Britons arrested there about a week ago.

Curious this is happening right before the August 22 date which has been so prominent in the Iranian statements on nukes and Israel.

Wow, so many more terrorists than there were before Bush started his war on terrorism. Isn't it strange how all the Coalition countries seem to have this problem? It appears the terrorism problem is getting worse. I guess the liberals were right that the Bush strategy is feeding the terrorist movement. Let's hope we can keep catching them as fast as Bush and Blair create them.

Well France has the riots among their Muslim population I was unaware oof their support for the coalition.

IF I understand you correctly if we surrender to the terrorist they will leave us alone?

I believe Germany had some issues with Muslims too did they not? And their support for the Iraq war was where?
