Cons. Mag reports Condi and GWB at odds over Lebanon...
Found this info this AM, looks like Condi and George are at odds as to how to handle the Israel/Lebanon conflict, have to wonder what this is leading to... guess someone has some common sense in this matter, too bad it is not George.
http://www.insightmag.com/Media/MediaManager/Condi4.htm Bush and Condi clash over Israel; president overrules her for the first time Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has become increasingly dismayed over President Bush's support for Israel to continue its war with Hezbollah. State Department sources said Ms. Rice has been repeatedly stymied in her attempts to pressure Israel to end strikes against Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon. The sources said the secretary's trip to the Middle East last week was torpedoed by the Israeli air strike of a Lebanese village in which 25 people were killed. "I've never seen her so angry," an aide said. The U.S. response to the Israeli-Hezbollah war was said to have divided both the administration as well as the family of President George W. Bush. At the same time, it marked the first time since Ms. Rice became secretary of state that the president has overruled her. |
Re: Cons. Mag reports Condi and GWB at odds over Lebanon...
Sounds like someones going to lose her chance at a Republican nomination.
Is the neo-Condi going to continue to push for a cease fire at the expense of her political aspirations? Stay tuned to find out. PS I thought Clean Break was what Bushie is trying to do to his staff...cut and run. Wheres Scooter McClellan these days?? |
Re: Cons. Mag reports Condi and GWB at odds over Lebanon...
I think Rove wants the war to continue because it's creating divisions in the left and is keeping the Iraq mess off the front page. The war provides a chance for the Republicans to recover some lost ground, though they still face the problem that Americans are pretty tired of the way our country is being run.

Re: Cons. Mag reports Condi and GWB at odds over Lebanon...
NEM, I just looked into the 'Clean Break Policy'. Thank you for pointing me to that.
I can't believe we have so many high level US officials who were former authors on this paper. They are deliberately choosing Israeli interests over US interests. If they continue with their detailed goals, world war will break out, the US could actually lose, and Isreal could be annihilated. BAD IDEA. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Perle
This guy Richard Perle has been the main guy behind Iraq and now Lebanon/Syria. Remember the name; he could end up being the person most responsible for world war 3. The Tom Clancy quote about Perle on Wikipedia is SCARY. Clancy recounted with disgust how he heard Perle call Colin Powell a wuss for caring about soldier's lives. . |
Re: Cons. Mag reports Condi and GWB at odds over Lebanon...
Richard Perle is the anti-christ.

Actually, this proves you wrong, NEM. Your thinking was that Condi's visit was cancelled because she was a woman, was it not? |
