SBB's 7/31 PM practice

I thought this was a fun one.

I started out watching the line and linebacker tackle a dummy and then scramble for a lose ball to far away to really pick out anyone who excelled but fun to watch.

During a drill designed for DBs to work on their jam there was a real interesting moment when Moss spoke to all of the Corners giving them some pointers. Highlighting what it must be like for a DB to practice vs him all summer.

Tate had a few nice plays where he made Butler than McCourty look bad by juking one way and running the route another for easy catches. He is definitely shifty.

Mayo had a nice play where he slipped in the backside and stopped a run in the backfield.

Robinson had a tough day throwing picks to Mcgowan who made a nice catch while getting hit, Thomas Williams, and Chung.

Edelman had one nice grab while being pulled down by McGowan and it was nice to see as he dropped a few in individual drills.

Gerrard Warren had a few nice run stuffs.

Mckenzie again had the best hit of the day as Maroney spun to shake lose of someone in the backfield Mckenzie was there to lay the wood.

At the end the offense go the better of the D and Brady was really getting in the Ds face and talking trash.

... I'm not sure whether I should start feeling more psyched about our receivers or worried about the DBs! Definitely loving everything I'm hearing on Tate. Good to see Moss giving some schooling.

One name I haven't seen since camp opened is Brandon Deaderick. Anyone heard anything or seen him in action?

On that note I think it is important to note that the DBs work on an island much more than the WRs have to work against double teams. There is a drill they seem to do dailey that is just one on one which really puts stress on the DBs.

I have liked some things I have seen from the DBs specifically the safeties as the really seem to be jumping routes and being aggressive even if it hasnt resulted in picks and batted balls the agression will pay off.

I guess now would be a good time to mention Meriweather had a nice play in coverage on Price where price had initially beat him deep but he closed and managed to knock the ball away.

Loving Tate and Tmac I'm not worried about the defense.

Was this as a DE in the 3-4? Getting somebody who can play there without being a liability against the run would be huge.

McKenzie is going to see MUCH better runners and elusive runners than Maroney come real game time (not real hard to beat) but nevertheless positive TC play is always good to hear.

Does anyone else put there feel like this sounds like a more energetic camp than in recent years? Maybe it's just easy to forget, then rediscover, the enthusiasm and optimism we get every year around this time. Or maybe it's just a matter of there being so many new guys, so there's a lot to be discovered. But there seems to be a lot going on and a palpable energy.

I am loving Tate... but am a bit worried about Price. How does Price look?

Price has looked good and made nice catches and plays out there. Tate has a year on him so he should look better.

I would say there seems to be the same pace and tempo of camps past. I think it is very impressive how much they get done in a couple of hours and how they go from one drill to the next with little wasted time.

Loving the way Tate is sounding. Every report I read has him making a few plays against the DB's in practice. I really hope he remains healthy and pans out. As I said yesterday, he has the ability to threaten all levels of the field.
