OT: Richard Seymour signs tender with Raiders

Not really Pats news, but I guess since he used to play for the Pats and the Pats own the Raiders first round pick, it qualifies for Pats news in the dead zone that is the six weeks between minicamp and the start of training camp.

Oakland Raiders veteran defensive end Richard Seymour has signed his exclusive rights franchise tender, a $12.398 million price tag.

Congratulations on the payday #93.

That's great money but, with the labor issues and the possibility of 2011 without football, I'm sure he'll have his agent try to hammer out a long term deal.

Personally, I doubt Seymour has plans to sign long-term with the Raiders. He'll still have value after this season to other teams. He's crazy if he inks with them long term. This thought that all of a sudden that team can contend because theyve brought in Jason Campbell is crazy talk. I have no doubt he'd rather be back somewhere in the south, southeast playing for an actual contender.

His value after this season is greatly diminished if there's a lockout in 2011, which is likely at the least.

93 take away 1 first round pick = 92.

Even a Raider fan gets that.

Good for Big Sey......he gave us some good years for sure....and wouldn't get that kind of payday here....and I'm thankful we won't give out that big a payday!

He's crying all the way to the bank; $25M for two years isn't bad at all. He'll worry about his next contract next year.
